I'm still not sure on the DoF thing. But maybe having an ex pro who'd had a successful career and won things,CL,FA Cups Prem titles or the European equivalents in the role or is that just too out there as an idea?

Exactly this. I mean i dunno the DOF role just seems to have been accepted. I hardly ever see anyone mention why a person who hasnt played or managed at any level is doing putting players on the pitch. I could live with an ex pro who could possibly see more in a player ability and temperament wise being a thing. Havent Arsenal got Edu their former player?
We've got Kevin.

@Hinchcliffe's Corner @Zatara

Guys am on the mission to make this place a "no agro zone" between the hours on 3am to 8am. A place where we become one blue spirit and watch the sunrise together with hope and positivity of us finally signing decent forwards.

Guys let just come to together ey.

Theres a time difference factor :p

I dont mind teasing but being unable to structure questions and putting words in my mouth just make conversations a little pointless.

As for today, im feeling revitalised with the Thelwell move for Ekitike. He and Chermiti would solve long term issues up front.

No aggro from me, just want to know how reliable it is that Thelwell is actively looking to move Iwobi on. Happy as a pig in muck pal.

Why not ask that to people who say they know about it you absolute oblong.

It's baffling the non striker business. So there are no promising strikers in the Championship, hungry for it? Nobody in Spain, playing in Barcelona's reserves? Nobody in Germany? Not even on loan?? Come on Kevin. F***, we're not even expecting someone to get 20 goals a season, we just want someone who can get at least 10! Someone who has actually scored goals. Not some castoff-neverwasbeen from a PL side.

I don't think it's a lack of players, this summer for example we have been linked with/gone after the likes of Boniface, EBT, Brobbey, Chermiti and others. Getting them to come here and getting their clubs to accept our strung out cheap payment methods is an entirely different story.

It is rather frustrating, last summer was the time to strengthen up front particularly when you consider we had such a poor goal return . We bought a Brighton substitute.

I don't think the role works with the DoF also seemingly being in charge of all scouting and recruitment.

Does the club actually employ scouts nowadays? Do we send people to watch players we are interested in? Do we have any agencies that work for the club to get data and track progress of players? Surely this cannot all be achieved by a DoF who also somehow needs to oversee the academy, the style of play the club will adhere to, negotiate own player contracts and incoming player contracts, etc.

Get rid of the cart as he's proven himself an utter liability in terms of bringing in and selling players.

The question was more what have either done to even warrant the role. Some might point me in the direction of Thelwells success in over 20 years as i cant really find it. And i highly doubt Moshri sought out Norwich and gave them £25m for Ben Godfrey.
No but in the Godfrey point, an agent could easily sway him plus Norwich fans seemed reasonably convinced by him.

What has Thelwell done that means he didn’t deserve the chance?

I am confident neither of us know enough about his career to truly scrutinise your question. But the easy thing to say is he didn’t deserve it etc.

There are Everton fans on this forum that were convinced about Tom Davies
