I'm just yet to be sold on the DOF role. Let them do the paperwork if they must. But when you step back and look at Brands and Thelwell having major says on who goes on the pitch in the past 5 years i keep asking why. No history of management. No playing history. Why are they given such a responsibility. Dithering Dave he might have been but i prefered the Moyes era. Few scouts. But lived or died by the sword with his choices.

The question was more what have either done to even warrant the role. Some might point me in the direction of Thelwells success in over 20 years as i cant really find it. And i highly doubt Moshri sought out Norwich and gave them £25m for Ben Godfrey.

Not defending him since it’s his responsibility as DoF to navigate the issues at the club but it must be challenging working with certified lunatics as chairman and owner, plus no cash.

I'm still not sure on the DoF thing. But maybe having an ex pro who'd had a successful career and won things,CL,FA Cups Prem titles or the European equivalents in the role or is that just too out there as an idea?

There hasn’t really been any players we have concretely been in for that I’ve been unhappy with so far…the Kudus links last summer, the Toure/Daka/Ekitike links this summer…all pretty positive. The problem is getting deals over the line and quicker.
