Bournemouth played kamikaze football because they had rubbish defenders so went on the mantra of if you score 2 we will score 3. Newcastle are setup in a very different way to them, Howe has learn't since then imo and also has access to better players.

Then would we have had enough to change the midfield or just replace Richarlison and steam ahead like we did last season. I cannot fault the method of spending and building. I still think he prioritised correctly in the summer - start from the back.

Whether he and Lampard foresaw quite how toothless we'd be at the other end though is another question.

Look at his lineups though, the best players at the moment are ones that were there before he came in. Howe has changed his approach to management and it's paying off for Newcastle.

As @Tree13 Says, Tsygankov is someone we should seriously be moving for in January.

Contract up at the end of the season so we should be able to bring him in for a reasonable fee. Would surely help that we have Mykolenko as well.

I think he and Patterson would be a very good right hand side.

It looks to me like we have the majority of the foundations built for the next 5 seasons.

To bring in 3 forward players and develop and sign rotation options in several other areas probably takes 2 more summers.

Something most of us expected at the end of last season.

But he wasn't at Newcastle when he was a possibility, he was at Bournemouth and as has been previously stated they were awful. He would have been a gamble. We didn't gamble, Newcastle did and up to now its paid off for them.

No we didn't but it's something that in future we should look to do a bit more when it comes to players and managers. We have a habit especially with managers of just looking at people with PL experience, that's a very small and limited market, it's the same with players, you pay an english premium in this country, there are better bargains/options abroad if you are just prepared to take that risk/gamble.
