Maupay £12mil
Chermiti £12.8mil+
Adams £12mil

=£36.8mil+

Now, i like the Chermiti signing and someone posted that the Athletic said we had been watching him for 3 years.

But for £36.8mil ++ d have gone for a high calibre u23 player... Balogun, Wahi, David...Ekitike...someone else lol

Neither are coming here, I mean Arsenal are trying to price Spurs out of going for Balogun and they won’t entertain a loan

I've defended him more than most since he came in and given him the benefit of the doubt. But he's been here 18 months now and throughout that entire period has known we've needed a centre forward and his response is Neal Maupay and Che Adams for a combined £25m+. Shocking.

Its not just about a centre forward for my money mate. I know people think it is, it is part of it, but its also bigger in terms of squad building, its rebulding a whole offensive unit.

Essentially we scored 34 goals last season, 5 of which were against Brighton, so baseline average per game is very low. Essentially if im Thelwell im looking to add another 10-15 goals, 49+ goals is comfortably keeping us up with our average defensive record.

So the bet is the collective addition of:

Harrison
Adams,
Danjuma,
Chemiti
Young
And likely whoever on the right.

Will add collectively the additional, creativity, threat, assists and an additional 10 -15 goals.

If you take Adams and Harrison's numbers alone last season that's an additional 13 goals.

More then a chance.

I can see what Kev is trying to do TBH.

Not surprised Arsenal are pricing out their main rivals.

At the end of the day, £36.8mil would be or should be far better spent than on those 3.

There were plenty linked last summer who in hindsight are now looking amazing value.

This summer not so much. But if the Athletic are saying weve been watching Chermiti 3 years surely theres another option at rhe El Bilal side of the market at a higher fee but oven ready?

All i am seeing is

1: Kicking the can down the road with all 5 signings.

2: Leaving us with 1 attacking mid/wing player under contract in 9months

3: An uninspiring and somewhat depressing list of names.

As always i will judge at the end of the window but so far we look in serious trouble this, next and the following season without 2 good Zat type signings.

Pack yer bags big nose. That is shocking work.

I'm very iffy on whether spending what seems to be most of our money on a youth project not expected to impact us much this season was the way to go.

I like the loan deals and I understand the Young deals.

Che Adams is horrific though and there's no way around it.

In isolation Chermiti looked like a sensible signing to replace DCL in 2 years when his contract expires.

But now seeing Maupay last summer and Adams this summer....the £36.8mil+ is just incredibly poor business.

Theres no other way to look at it imo.

The loan deals, again in isolation im ok with for 1 season. But in 9months the only attacking mid / winger is McNeil. The rest are out of contract.

Then were really going to be stuffed.
