Think thelwell and his team seem to be doing there way obviously within the financial restrictions of the club ,moshiri thankfully seems to have stepped back and chairman bill seemingly indisposed through I'll health

I was wondering this….BK ill, has he stepped back only recently (late on in the window) which is why we have agreed terms with Udinese? Difficult to know, I’m just hoping for this guy, a creative / right sided midfielder (the way Arteta used to interchange his position) and a left Full back, so we can switch Young to the right.

…this time last year we paid £12m for Maupay. At the same time Almeria paid £8m for Bilal Toure who we recently bid £27m for and Udinese paid £5m for Beto who we’ve just paid £27m for. That’s not working within financial restrictions.

i don’t think anybody should be congratulating Thelwell. Fingers crossed Beto is worth what we’re paying.

I don't understand the focus on upfront payments. We still need to pay the fees, and it's not sustainable to forever kick the can down the road.

Bobble said that Thelwell wanted Toure Last year but was overruled by Moshiri and Kenwright who wanted PL experience hence the signature of Maupay. Now whether you believe that story or not, you seem to have something against Thelwell and do not appear to be interested in countenancing that maybe he gets overrules by his bosses (as other DoFs before him have been - remember Rondon being a gift from Moshiri to Benitez when Brand was in charge?)

No it’s not, but if it helps in this transfer window and helps us comfortably avoid relegation, then needs must. The financial mismanagement took place way before this DoF who has been handed a poisoned chalice in comparison to his two predecessor. What is definitely not sustainable for us is relegation.

Whether thelwell has a free run on things this season who knows same I suppose with kudus last summer just couldn't get it over the line

I think the other two predecessors had different challenges to face not necessarily money but too many people wanting to sign different players to that of the dof

Agreed but it would appear (at least from some reports) that at the start of Thelwell’s tenure there may still have been some of that going on.

Most definitely but as things stand moshiri and Kia seem totally out of the picture and kenwright totally out of the equation due to illness

Maybe that’s why we appear to be seeing a little bit of traction now incited in part by maybe a little bit of panic

Quite possibly a bit of panic.
Its a process I would love to see in action the buying and selling and negotiating for these players within the window and how close to a deal for gnonto we were
