If Beto comes in, along with Danjuma, Harrison and Young who are proven performers, and Chermiti for the future, having moved some dross on from the squad, has he done well or poorly GOT citizens?

It isn't sustainable forever but two points:
1- I can't remember the exact amounts but as of the last accounts we were owed way more in transfer payments than they owed. So there is some money owed to us that helps balance future instalments out
2- We are in a period of high expenditure (the stadium) which all being well in the next two years will transition into a period of increased revenue (matchday revenue, naming rights etc). So it does make business sense to push as much spending as possible into future financial years where it can be covered more easily.
If we avoid relegation it could all work out.
If we get relegated then its going to be disastrous. Paying off a stadium and a lot of players we can no longer afford in the championship.
But its bound to also stop us strengthening the squad in future years to some extent. The squad needs so much work and it will take several windows. We need the ability to invest in future windows as well.

On paper it's a decent window but we've had too many false dawns to call the window a success until we see how it translates to the pitch.
Yes, for now I think he would have done well.
The proof is in the pudding, but I like the look of them all, I know Young wasnt great yesterday, but players always looks worse in defeats.
Get our injured players back and we have a few options in some areas.
If he can get anything else on top, then hats off to the fella.

I think it's telling the summer constraints we are under given that we have to put Beto's payment off until next year but the lack of urgency in getting these deals over the line sooner is a real sticking point for me.
Not to mention possibly a Harrison payment also if the fella is a success.
Of course the future is important, ignoring the future leaves us with a begging bowl out late August.
But for the here and now hes got some options for the Manager to utilise, he needs to work on getting rid of 4 or 5 now and adding 1 other, 2 would be fantasy land.

Relegation is so disastrous anyway that there's not much choice but to partially mortgage the future to get players in, even if it hampers future windows. In our situation you can only cross these bridges when you come to them.
Player sales will be a big factor in these future windows, this money doesn't disappear into thin air, it gets you assets. We've got a lot of instalments still to pay on Onana, but even with a fairly modest first season on paper we'd turn a profit if we sold. That covers off the instalments on him, obviously, but also on other players for whichever window he is sold. Then you reinvest in more young talent, grow your assets, rinse repeat.
Ultimately it's about investing in the right players and making a profit rather than how you pay for them. If you make a profit on them you'll be fine. Thelwell at least seems to be investing what little we have in players in the right age group (Onana, Garner, McNeil, Chermiti and Beto all 25 or under) to develop and turn a profit on. If we were mortgaging the future to bring in a bunch of 28+ year olds with no sell on value as we did in the past I'd be more worried.
I’ll wait til I see Beto kick a football before I decide on that.
