In reality only a limited number of people would do that. There would be those who just pocket the cash and others who try to work in grey areas.

I think Thelwell is in the latter group.

No I wouldn’t, but then I am not on the level of salary they are on. They will have financial security already to an extent, and football is such a small community when it comes to reputation, if you stay at a club as DoF for five years, and they constantly struggle to survive, you become tarnished. If Thelwell is in that latter camp as you suggest, he deserves all the flak he gets. I understand the willingness of DoFs to be resilient and effect change from within, but at some point you either looks for another job, or resign out of principle. That’s just me.

I would agree with this - some of the rumoured signings and recruitment team appointments he has made appear to be very astute and give me encouragement. We just need a new ownership and Board structure now so he can be more effective in his role

We paid £27mil for Kean, loaned him to PSG for £7mil and then sold him back Juve for £30mil, that's £10mil profit
Nkounkou we paid about £270k and sold him for £2mil
Digne we paid £20mil sold him for £30mil

Now you change it to "massive" profit, just how much profit is needed to be a decent profit, all profit is good for the books

Letting players’ contracts expire does not count as moving them on for me. There was already an agreement in place to sell Kean which he had nothing to do with. So he’s moved on Simms basically.

I'm not giving Thelwell credit for it happening hence using the word "we" and not "he". These players are no longer at the club, I'm merely playing devils advocate. Would you say this window is better than anything Brands had done for example?

Wtf are you blabbering on about. Most of the business we have done hasnt been buying and selling for profit. Thats why the clubs on its arse financially. Throwing the odd bizare player in means very little when you've spunked £500 odd million and got nothing back.
