I remember when absolutely everyone said last summer that we’d had a good window. Great times.

Good: Onana, McNeil, Garner, Tarkowski, Coady
Bad: Maupay, Gana, Vinegre
Looks pretty good to me ?

Yeah it was that great we scored 34 goals, created nothing and had -23 goal difference whilst being 2 points above relegation
A roaring success
6 permanent players signed.
I imagine we could flog Maupay and Gana for their book values and the other 4 are good players.
If we had spent the money on forwards the midfield would have been Davies and Gomes.
Well you imagine wrong and we still only scored 34 goals6 permanent players signed.

Why do you think this? There’s not even a sniff of interest in Maupay, not even on a loan or tiny fee. Gana is turning 34 and will be leaving on a free. He was a completely unnecessary vanity signing too.

Everyone knew we needed goals, he added none so it was not a successful window
And please don’t go on about “young talent” and “book values”; we’re a football team not an asset management company
Bonkers this. We had 6 central defenders and no striker fit for purpose. The bigger picture is more important than the individual signings.
I think/hope Thelwell is rebuilding the squad with half an eye on 1-2 seasons time.
We have Dyche as a relegation specislist stopgap until Thelwell has most of the 'new' squad in place. To work under a different manager with the new stadium ready.
If we look at the age profiles of most of the players being signed permanently thats what it points to.
In and around the eleven we have:
Mykolenko
Branthwaite
Patterson
Garner
Onana
McNeil
Dobbin
Beto
Chermiti
DCL
Thats 10 players and with numerous outs over the next 2 summers we probably wont be far off a new squad.
