2024/25 Kevin Thelwell

Disagree with that mate, think we got the brown end of the stick.

Win for Gordon and Newcastle for sure.

We should always want to keep our better players.
I agree with what you say
But unfortunately until we get ourselves up the League and hopefully in contention for a trophy(big ask) our better players will always be looking at the better teams. Rooney, Barkley Gordon. Even if we get to be a mid table team someone like Branthwaite will start looking at the more successful teams.
That's why it's important we target good young players
I'm a bit torn over giving Thelwall another year Signed some bad players. But on reflection he has been hamstrung financially and when you look at some of the players he has tried to bring in kudus minteh etc I would give him another year to see what he can do. But please no Gronto he doesn't impress me at all when I have seen him play.
And hopefully they agreed some kind of sell on fee for Gordon. Definitely think the RS will be in for him

I think its very nuanced mate, inevitably there will always be players who will want to move on and at a higher level, even if you are in the CL and Real come in they are going.

I do think we are an absolutely soft touch though historically and i do think we are to quick to accept this as fans. We sold Rooney after a year and a bit here - he was worth more the we got, we sold Gordon under the same time frame. You should aim to keep these players 3-4 seasons, get the benefit of their service to grow the club, let the price appreciate and eventually work with them to move on at an inflated price.

We have done it historically wrong with out young players when its time to move on.

To be fair. You can see what he is trying to do. Ndiaye Lindstrome, Beto, O Brien are not bad players. and have potential.
But they are not the finished article and all need developing, which Moyes will do.
Obviously, he has been working under financial. constraints and maybe we will still need to shop in the bargain basement, for a while yet, to attain steady improvement.
One of the major problems was throwing big bucks at distinctly average players, on long term contracts, we couldn't get off our books.

Really cannot stand that muppet looking idiot. Despise him

Over the deadline day hysteria now and firmly back to being Thelwell in

Deserves at least one window where both hands aren’t tied behind back
Pacey winger and Kevin Thelwell target Willy Gnonto starts for Leeds in the F.A. cup 4th round lunchtime kick off.

Despite chasing him for three full transfer windows before Gnonto signed a new contract he was incompetently unable to seal the deal in time.

I wonder if Kev will make the sentimental journey to Elland Road today, or watch on the telly with a warm beer as he ponders what to do after he gets the boot as DoF.

If the player doesn`t want to sign for us there`s not much any DOF can do to change that. I prefer us to not keep chasing players that don`t want to sign for us thinking they can get a better move, and then sign for us because nothing better offer comes along rather than really wanting to move to us.

Fairly certain Thelwell is the source here

As per the last big article Mark Douglas did about what's going on with our academy etc, I think he's been given some access that other journos aren't getting from Thelwell

If Kev is still here in in June, do you trust Kev not to chase him all summer, not get him and sign no one with pace again?

He might not be here but let's judge him when he has a couple of windows where he's got actual money to spend rather than working with both arms tied behind his back. Find it mad people criticising his inability to get deals over the line when he had about a tenner to pay up front transfer fees

Nah mate, Moyes with money behind him will be shopping at a level above Broja. Moyes also isn't stupid, he can like a player but spot when the players done.

Bookmark this btw, Broja won't play more than a hundred minutes more for Everton.
Btw - reference in this article to us renegotiating the Broja deal in the summer. I can feel it coming...

If we pay any more than £10m for Broja we’ve been ripped off. Personally wouldn’t go anywhere near the crock.

Would be great to keep our better young players for 3-4 seasons. But Rooney got swayed by his agent Stretford and United turned his head.think.plqying for England that early also didn't help. Was gutted he was here for only 1 year. Fee was a joke but there were add ons at least. Kenwright hailed it as a great deal🤣. I think Gordon downed tools and never came in for training. Also think we needed the money from him for psr. Never heard of any add ons if Gordon moves. Not long ago we got some money because stones won the champions league. So we must do it.
Hopefully with more money coming in to the club we can play hard ball if any of the so called biggerr clubs come in. They seemed to play hard ball with Branthwaite when United came in for him. But if we do sell players we need to get top dollar for them to reinvest in the team
