2024/25 Kevin Thelwell

Freewheeling down a bumpy mountain.

We all suspect nothing will happen until the takeover is done, but by god it needs to happen in the next 2 weeks at the latest.

We just have to see how it plays out. When they come in I hope there is a lot more than just changing the manager.

And let’s see if some of these local “journalists “ hold them more to account than others before them should they make the needed changes.

We would hope TFG are already talking to potential new managers, it should be their first move within days of the takeover or their investment could go tits up very soon.

His recruitment has been poor for me and I've disagreed with many of our signings.

But today was about our tactics and lack of cohesion against a poor side with 10 men. That's on the manager and the players.

….we’ve struggled for a long time breaking teams down who defend deep. Ironically, we found it more difficult against 10 just as I suggested at half-time. When a team defends like that you need quality to break them down.

Regardless of manager, I think we’d still be playing now and it’d still be 0-0.

Dyche teams have struggled to score goals throughout his coaching career.

He's shown he is unable to make his teams carry a threat.

He also picks Calvert Lewin every week despite his poor performances. He's the one who has refused to try something different.

Guarantee someone tries to counter this by saying he played two up top today. From the 72nd minute.

….regardless of what he says or does, most posters have a fixed and entrenched view but just sometimes he may just have a point.

From what I know, he regularly played two up top with Burnley. He was asked about this recently and said ‘he hasn’t got the personnel here to play that way’. I thought about that quote watching the game. No interplay between Beto and DCL, indeed I’m not sure DCL was involved when Beto came on. Just maybe Dyche was right.

@Zatara isn’t alone in wanting to see Ndiaye at no10. Hell, I wanted to give it a go myself even for 30mins but it wasn’t a difference today (although one little interplay with Lindstrom was promising. I like footballers on the same wavelength being close).

I’m fine with the dissent against Dyche, all I suggest is posters don’t dismiss everything he says because they absolutely dislike him. He might just be right once or twice.

He needs to be right more than he's wrong. Do you think that has been the case this season?

For Ndiaye or even Lindstrom to play at No.10 they need more than a 30 min spell. They need to coach them in training to get adjusted for what is expected from them and surrounding players. It just galls me that we have 2 x No.10s playing as wingers and a player who has mainly played on the wing all career is played at No.10...........makes little sense

….i bow to your insight and presume you’re at FF daily to know the detail of each session. Many thanks.

Did you see any positive signs of coaching through patterns of coached interplay between:

DCL & Beto
DCL & Anyone else
McNeil & Ndiaye
...any two of our attackers at all?

Because, i didnt.

No according to Joe Thomas’ Brentford report

“There is little appetite for change “
They can throw this line out all the want...TFG will have a different ideas.

In my humble opinion I think people are getting sounded out.

It's run it course with Dyche and everyone can see it, ultimately he's failed his interview with them over the past month with the results he failed to pick up.

The press will get fed this 'little appetite for change' crap while the takeover is in process so the players don't down tools.

All depends on who they are sounding out though, if its the likes of Moyes then they are not reading the room properly imo.

….ha, ha, good footballers naturally link together. Baines and Pienaar weren’t coached to play as they did, they are on the same wavelength. Imagine them on the training ground being told; “Bainsey, you pass to Pienaar, and when you receive it Steven, give it back to Bainsey”. It doesn’t happen like that. You buy players because you think they’ll blend.

What you do on the training ground is to give that blend encouragement to develop, the coaches quickly see partnerships that work.

I saw one little interplay yesterday between Ndiaye and Lindstrom that I thought was encouraging but that was about it. As you know, I’ve wanted them closer on the pitch for a while. I saw it against Bournemouth, I thought Ndiaye and Iroegbunam had some terrific interplay between them. It’s what the better players do at any level.

Beto doesn’t know what he’s doing, so what chance has somebody playing alongside him. When Dyche says he hasn’t got the personnel to play 2 strikers, he might just be right ;), hopefully Broja and Chermiti give him that scope.
