2024/25 Kevin Thelwell

….ha, ha, good footballers naturally link together. Baines and Pienaar weren’t coached to play as they did, they are on the same wavelength. Imagine them on the training ground being told; “Bainsey, you pass to Pienaar, and when you receive it Steven, give it back to Bainsey”. It doesn’t happen like that. You buy players because you think they’ll blend.

What you do on the training ground is to give that blend encouragement to develop, the coaches quickly see partnerships that work.

I saw one little interplay yesterday between Ndiaye and Lindstrom that I thought was encouraging but that was about it. As you know, I’ve wanted them closer on the pitch for a while. I saw it against Bournemouth, I thought Ndiaye and Iroegbunam had some terrific interplay between them. It’s what the better players do at any level.

Beto doesn’t know what he’s doing, so what chance has somebody playing alongside him. When Dyche says he hasn’t got the personnel to play 2 strikers, he might just be right ;), hopefully Broja and Chermiti give him that scope.

"What you do on the training ground is to give that blend encouragement to develop, the coaches quickly see partnerships that work"

-- Poppycock.

Not a single midfielder or attacking player looks like they've been training together before any game this season.

You can also say the same about the defence in comparison to the shape last season.

Not a single person can put forward a favourable comment towards Dyche's coaching this season.

Its like we dont even have a manager.

…I didn’t go yesterday but I heard commentator suggest after a poor start to the season our defensive record is amongst the best in the league. Sounded like a favourable comment

If that change happens at that time, I think we go onto to win. Once Beto came on he had 3 chances, with the last one maybe going in if not for the defender blocking it. His changes are either wrong or too late.

Beto is the one getting most of the chances which begs the question again...

...how TF is DCL starting?

Jordan Pickford.

He saved a certain goal yesterday with a huge gap between Tarkowski and Branthwaite.

All depends on who they are sounding out though, if its the likes of Moyes then they are not reading the room properly imo.
Not in a million years would Moyes have this team 3 points above the relegation zone after that run of games...not a chance.

I think he's the right appointment for this moment in time.

He's definitely not the long term answer by a long shot but the appointment of Moyes in my eyes guarantees survival and probably puts abit of pride back into a what should have be a historic season.

The fact that we're playing like this in our last season at GP is an absolute travesty.

You think Moyes would have us playing any better? his football is no better on the eye than Dyche's and there is no way he would agree to an end of season contract either, as you say he is no long term solution. We need to move on from Moyes, just look at the lack of links there have been to jobs for him since West Ham, there is a reason for that.

Honestly don’t understand why he doesn’t play 4-4-2. Get dcl and Beto up top work on it, dcl can hold it up and Beto can get in behind. Keep Ndiaye left and have gana and mangala in the middle. He did it with a worse team and squad at Burnley. The way he currently set up I don’t think it matters who starts up top on their own. Least Burnley had a way of playing at was effective in their own right, us i don’t get it.

Moyes would have us playing better and we'd have more points on the board yes.

Is this West Ham who've gone backwards since he left and the same West Ham he won a European cup with?

Moyes is a far better manager than Dyche, not even up for debate.

I'm not saying he isn't but he is not the answer for me, just more can kicking imo.

I did mention in my original post he wasn't the answer long term...am thinking in short term because the here and now is slightly concerning.

Players need to buy into a leader.

Moyes for a few months adds no value
