It's funny really, as with certain young players I am more critical than most (Kenny + Lookman). With others I seem to be more praiseworthy.

Dowell is a classic luxury player, but at every level seems very adept at creating opportunities for players. I think he'd have been perfect for Lukaku and could be very good for Tosun. As always a lot will depend on the type of manager we employ. An attack minded coach like Fonseca, may view him as similar to how Martinez did with Barkley, where he was brought in from the fringes and made very central to how we played.

In many ways Barkley had a more sparkling career at the same stage, but in other ways none of his loan spells were as productive as Dowell's has been at Forest (Barkley basically flopped).

Unfortunately mate its going to be allardyce

Have you read the futobul grad article explaining how fonseca only plays kovalenko at home in the Ukrainian league as he knows they will dominate whereby in Europe He doesn’t play him as he isn’t quick enough over the ground for counter attacking.

If this is truly his plan for a player who is a great hope for ukrainin football then he sounds like he would fit well with our youth players & play them in games whereby we will be on the offensive.

Pretty much mirroring the sentiments of most on here regarding the younger players getting minutes against the weaker teams.

Unfortunately I can’t see Sam bringing dowell through or Lookman or vlasic which is a big problem as if these players fulfill there potential then they are players that aged 25 we simply couldn’t attract.

Of corse it’s an if but we have to at least give ourselves & the players a chance.

We really can’t afford to shoot ourselves in the foot with these boys.

It would have been 6 had Liam Walsh not broken a bone in his foot as he was included in the original squad.

Had the FA not agreed that Tom Davies be rested he would have captained the U19s that won the euros.
Hahaha, but all these kids are crap and will never make it according to lots on here? I cannot understand why we have become so impatient and intolerant of our kids, its like they are all having to suffer because Rooney left us :) i appreciate that most will be moved on, but people were writing off JonJoe Kenny, a good right back on tha basis that he wasnt Seamus Coleman ffs? They also conveniently forgot that he made his debut in one of the worst performing and gutless teams we shall ever see disgrace our club, yet not once did I ever see that lad hide? Same with Holgate, same with DCL, Tom Davies etc.

I think our fans may have been spoilt by Rooney coming through so young and we expect all other youngsters to be the same. Whereas players like Rooney, and possibly Owen, are the anomalies; the vast majority of players don't mature until their mid 20s, and sometimes peak even later.

Fans also want success now, especially when they have been so starved of it like us. And the sad truth is young players are notoriously inconsistent and most fans think they should play well every game.

I don't actually think Evertonians are that different to any other premier league fans in that regard, not the ones that expect success at any rate. It's a shame because we have this group at the moment and if we could bring them through together then they could be a bit special. We need to be able to see the bigger picture and accept it will take 2/3 years at least to evolve, but I don't think either the club, or the fans, will be prepared to do that.

As he was mentioned in the transfer window thread, it occurred to me he has ~12 months on his deal.

Agent is the same as Barkley. Clearly not a great relationship with that fella.

Likely to go?

He might be one of the candidates here to replicate what Cleverley did for Silva at Watford, coming off the right side of midfield in a 433. At least Silva arriving gives me hope we wont be seeing him or Lookman lost to us forever.
