2017/18 Kieran Dowell

The fact that he's featured so prominently in pre-season and still gets loaned out is a bit odd

Just highlights how weak we are in attacking positions

Or it could highlight that Koeman and the staff have assessed them all and think that he is not likely to get much playing time behind Sandro, Rooney, Gylfi, Klaassen, Mirallas, Lookman, DCL as they are actually better than him at this stage in his career and a year out playing regularly in competitive football could benefit him?

The word is the lad is not happy with this outcome and Unsworth isn't thrilled either.

I fully expect Davies to be sidelined this season too.

More marvellous decisions...let's see if they have a marvellous outcome.

Would those be different from phenomenal ones?

Even by his usual standards, the utter meltdown about this news from Dave has been utterly spectacular

About a guy he only knows from some youtubegoals in the everton youth. Wat a clown.

also the crying about Deulofeu is funny. If there's one player who's overrated by some fans its Deulofeu.

Feel a bit sorry for Dowell

He really staked a claim this season but from day one last season he never got a look in. Feels like he just doesn't fit the koeman way sadly

I remember when he and Davies played against Norwich on the final day of the season and it was dowell who impressed me more of the two.

I just hope we don't regret this
Davies was man of the match and dowell was subbed after an hour. Its all about opinions.

I still regret the demise of the old reserves. The u23s is great in terms of giving young players room to develop I suppose, but in essence it remains a bunch of youngsters who mostly will not make it versus a bunch of youngsters most of whom will not make it. With the old system it was a mix of young players and seasoned professionals who were currently out of favour or recovering from injury and more closely resembled the football played by the first 11.

If he plays well we may wish we'd have kept him.

There's also a chance he ends up like Galloway and not getting in the side

Loans are always a risk.

If he plays well and impresses then he'll be given his deserved chance. He's gone on loan to a former 2 time European Cup winning club who are building a very strong side, I'd expect Kieran to link up very well with both Zach Clough and Tolis Vellios

Galloway will come back more proven too, West Brom and Pulis was, retrospectively, the absolute worst loan for him last season

I personally think that lost year can cost a young player massively in their development

Didn't even play that well, this preason. His goal against that Kenyan side should have been saved, and his goal against Twente was good but against dire opposition. In short he has flattered to deceive and a loan is what he needs. @davek is making the championship sound like rugby but it isn't that bad tbh.

Disclaimer that I do think he has talent.
