2017/18 Kieran Dowell

Kenny has absolutely earned the right to start while Coleman is out. There's literally nothing else he could have done. He's gone on loan twice - successfully. He's captained the U23s to a league title. He was the best player on the pitch most matches this summer for a World Cup winner. And then he's not even in the squad for the EL match, and Martina goes out and is absolute dross.

I'm glad you have no doubt Kenny will get his chance, but I'm sat here thinking if he didn't get it last Thursday, at home, when is that going to happen.

I totally hope I'm wrong and overreacting here, and will be happy to be wrong. But I have my doubts.
You're not overreacting, he was ready last season but didn't get a look in. The signing of Martina is a joke and tells you a lot about Koeman.

Good move for him.

He needs to be playing first team football and this season is probably one season too early for him with us, so we'll be able to see how he copes with the move up to competitive games from the U23's
It's only a good move if Koeman is no longer here as manager when his loan finishes.

He can get that back by standing out in a sea of crap on Wearside

He didn't play for virtually a full season at a vital age

I still stand by my theory that Barkley never developed into the top player we expected due to his long term injuries at a young age

Dowell has the makings of a fabulous footballer but the game can pass him by.

I have seen him appear anonymous in matches and then smash in a spectacular goal.

He needs consistency and he will only get that through playing games. If he can dictate games for Forrest then he will be ready to become first team player here.

He has the talent already but his strength is the issue. If he can nail down a place and be influential in the championship he will be a success here.

It says to me koeman doesn't wanna know any of the younger players. Holgate and kenny overlooked for a player Southampton didn't want. I feel like he only plays the younger players if he absolutely has too

Didn't even play that well, this preason. His goal against that Kenyan side should have been saved, and his goal against Twente was good but against dire opposition. In short he has flattered to deceive and a loan is what he needs. @davek is making the championship sound like rugby but it isn't that bad tbh.

Disclaimer that I do think he has talent.

whens the rest of the players that played those matches going out on loan if thats what we're going by?

He played dcl second half of last season and the lad did f all. He played holgate second half if last season and the lad isnt a right back. He played tom davis who dominated some experienced midfielders. So id day he does guve young players a fair go. But i do agree with u in relation to martina . Kenny cant be worse and could be given a go there

He was forced into playing holgate and dcl though pal

Oh no, it's a completely logical decision sending out a lad who could be learning off Rooney et al to a Championship club where he'll learn how to watch the ball sail over his head for a year.

Un'kinreal.

The lad is about as good as we still have on the books in terms of pure talent and that manager is punting out. Unless Koeman leaves I dont ever expect to see that lad in an Everton shirt again.

Bonfire of the talent continues.
Don't worry it's not like the U23 manager has said their ready, they're our best crop of youngsters in decades and half of them have won the U20 World Cup.

Dowell asked to go on loan in January but didn't get his wish because of Unsworth, mentioned it in an interview too with ya boy. *Ahem*

But if you don't believe the nods he made towards your boy:

Yeah he asked to go on loan because he was fed up and disillusioned with Koeman not giving him any opportunities.
