Your desperation is tragic. The rate is higher but nowhere near the 100%+ that you tried to portray it as, due to the additional 172 games ffs

Sunday league it isn't. It's part of the lads development, as he'll get much more out of the season than being largely in the U23's for us.
Well what is that rate then? If you think I'm skewing the numbers outrageously give us them.

Or he gets an injury.
Actually, on further research, it turns out the position you've taken is completely wrong as usual, bravo.

The championships 88 red cards as you pointed out last season, happened in 1068 games. The premier league last season was an enigma, as 30 seconds of research would have showed you that in the previous 3 seasons the league averaged 61 red cards per season, for an average of 1 every 12.66 games.

The championship averaged 1 every 12.14 games. But Dowells is even SAFER there than he is in the premier league. Why? Because the biggest offender of all was Nottingham Forest, his teamates, leading the league in red cards. The rest of the league, the teams he will be playing, average 1 card every 12.93 games.

*mic drop*

You shouldn't have said that bit mate, dave will now claim that his team mates will be out to do him in training cause they're just a bunch of agricultural cavemen jealous of the Premier League wonderkid reminiscent of Pele in his prime.

Last 10 seasons:

Number of red cards in the Championship = 878
Number of red cards in the Premier League = 598

88 versus 60 each season on average.

A third more red cards in the Championship and they dont play a third more games.

Ergo: the Championship is more brutal...although a breakdown of dismissals for fouls as opposed to dissent would be handy to know.

Thanks but that's a lot of words that say nothing. Again, I want to place my trust in Koeman, I really do. The Martina thing has shaken me a fair bit, I'm not going to lie. If Martina was 20 and went out and played like that against the Slovaks, would he EVER get a second chance?
He wouldn't have been given a chance in the first place :)

Fair enough, thats probably the most dangerous place for him this year, training with that lot :-0

Yes, they literally DO play a third more games. More actually. You ARE aware there are 24 teams in the championship right? Its really basic math, 24 teams x 46 games each is right around 1100 sides. In the premier league 20 teams x 38 is 760. A third of 760 is 253 games. So the premier league(760) plus a third more (253) would be 1013, less than they play in the championship.

Want to work it the other way to help your numbers? If the championship played 30% less, it would be 770 games, still more.

Your making it easy Davek :)

lol

You're barking mad lad.

It's a fair point Eggs. Not lost on me. Part of the problem here is lack of communication. I know all managers hate justifying their decisions, but this is OUR club. We're going to be here long after RK is gone. It's just a job to him.

If he came out and said "I rate Dowell but I need to him to go on loan and improve x, y, and z before he can be considered for a 1st team place here, then fair enough. But the truth is we don't know if RK rates any of them. I keep reading things like "{insert young lad here} is highly rated at Everton"...by who? Because we know Unsy does. And probably many others. But if the gaffer doesn't...that's a problem. We have this shining reputation for playing youngsters. It's allowed us to attract the likes of Gibson, Bowler, and the others we've signed this year for the u23s. If that disappears....
These lads are not being dumped.
They are being sent to clubs playing at a high standard to continue their development. Not all will make it at Everton because our hope is that we are growing into a club that is challenging at the very top of Premiership and also fighting for silverware....and it will be only players of the highest standard that make it.

We see the most successful clubs struggling to get any from their academies into their first teams and yet year after year we see the best of young talent going to their youth systems.
To suggest that if we don't continue to bring player after player into the first team from our academy that we won't attract good youngsters is laughable...the opposite is true.

We have a decision to make as fans as to what we want our club to be.
We can be plucky little Everton or we can become one of the big guns... but, the big guns can be nasty and mean and can stand on toes and use their muscle to bully.... but , they win and they win consistently and the best of players and young talent want to go to winners.

I think Moshiri and RK have decided that we join the big league , toes will be trod on.
