True, but you can't just chuck him in as a starter - it's a big step up from U23s to Prem. For now, he'll have to take his chances from the bench whenever they are presented - unless he goes out on loan. Personally, I think both Kenny and Dowell would benefit from a loan to a lower end Prem team to get some experience.

Agreed, but Thursday was not PL -- it was against a League 1 level opposition, a perfect opportunity to see how he's progressing.

should really scrap the u23/academy teams altogether in that case.

I'd start Kenny over Martina; I'd start Davies over Klaassen; I'd start Dowell over DCL.

Considering we only have 3 right backs I'd be well pissed too if I was 4th choice

Think Dowell out wide would be a waste. I'd send him on loan to bulk up and get experience personally, especially if Sigurdsson comes in. Lookman is the one I'd start.

Klaasen is going to be a belter of a signing. The brain on him is already evident. Might take a season to see the best of him but that's why you have squad depth. Those two competing for places is great.

Kenny over Martina is a no brainer because Kenny actually can't be worse than him.

Agreed, he'd be better off coming off the bench with the occasional cup run out. I don't get this obsession in loaning players out to leagues below their ability. We'll never produce any homegrown talent for the first team without bringing them through ourselves.

Why would any manager do that , it makes no sense. I don't believe that, plain and simple.

I see Klaassen as a signing we need not have made. At the very least Davies should have the shirt and have to lose it. He proved himself last season and to be demoted to make way for a player like Klaassen is a kick in the teeth.
