Spoke to a few of my barcode mates about this yesterday and they all seemed genuinely gutted he wants to leave.

Instrumental in their rise up the table a couple of years ago. Instrumental in them being not quite as good as they could have been last year.
He is still ok compared to our current options, but in financial terms we really only need to loan him for a fortnight, not all season. By then, a quarter of our fit players will be Right Backs!
Taking him on as genius cover for RB/LB just shows again how poor a decision it was to let Godfrey go and not bin Young off. And going back further, not explaining to Godfrey years ago he is a no nonsense full back, never a CB ever ever. He wasn’t amazing but put in our best defensive full back performances last year, in some massive important games.
Signing Tim looks to be amazing business. Hopefully Ndiaye will work out. But these stupid little errors still plague our recruitment and they all have knock on effects. We’ve brought a healthy number of players in and yet two of the worst players we’ve had over the last decade are guaranteed starters this weekend. Kev might have done well juggling the £’s, but he has done it without ever looking at the squad list.

It's not that he wouldn't be our best full back, that's a fact, it's that he's the best option we can attract.
Beggars belief.
I think I will be very suprised if we can attract him - at least 3 years to young....
He will be frantically trying to find a better option than Everton and seriously considering retirement if we are truely his best option. Probably using Everton to spread the word thats hes available.
This won't change if we sign this fella.

Becomes our best player if he does. Probably activates DCL too. Just a hunch.
Arguably our best FB but 1. the bar is low and 2. still in terms of premier league full backs he is very much down there. Maybe not 5+ years ago.
Activates DCL to Newcastle or activates him if we are putting in crosses?

TBH would rather DCL to Newcastle and Tripper stay there..... that way they can activate him any way they see fit.
