Koeman: "Barkley looking for a new challenge"

Do you think it's code for "this manager makes me work harder than the last one"?

Or not?
No, I think his workrate has been praised by the manager. He just doesn't want him here because he prefers a different set up in midfield. That's ok. Let him sell Barkley. And I'm sure Barkley will welcome the bigger challenges that lie in wait at Spurs in their season to come.

The major concern ALL should have is that Koeman allowed himslef to make this a war of wills and left us without a bargaining position over the price of sale. He's cost us...and not just on the Barkley sale but also the impetuosity of the fees paid for pretty average players this window....a process soon to have the icing on that particular cake with the barmy OTT price paid for Sigurdsson.

Rat !

Not to be sold to any team in top 10 as that will be financially a mistake.

Sell him abroad is fine, break all links.

Hope Rooney hasn't advised him on this.

Gutted hope he's not heard of again in relation to Everton FC

Think it is a shame.

I would like Wayne to get hold of RK and RB and tell Ron, leave Ross with me to look after and I will give you that world class consistent performer you are looking for.

Scoring a goal for another team will never be the same as scoring for Everton Ross.

It's a bit late for that mate.

And Rooney has already said he'd like Ross to stay.

The lad's mind appears to be made up.

The only way this situation changes is if no offer comes in that we want to accept.

The deal I imagine will still be on the table in that (unlikely, imo) scenario, and then we'd see what'd happen.

In the meantime though, as RK said, he has to discount Ross from his plans and look at other players.

Since Ross informed Koeman at the end of last season he wouldn't sign, I'd say it's fairly unlikely

I'll back BlueToff on that one, Dave
Fraudo's last season, Ross looked lost, fat and disinterested.
Last season he looked motivated, fit and hungry again.
Faded a bit towards the end of the season but I was impressed by his finding form again for most of it.
Fraudo? Sorry, if you want to deal in those epithets can you first come up with one for the current manager who's won f.a. for a decade and ended our season in early January?

Did I miss their offer then? Deli Alli et al must be quaking knowing that star signing Barkley is on his way with his 150k weekly in his back pocket
He'll be leaving for there or Arsenal.

He'll be playing CL football for the next few seasons, that is for sure.

If only we could say that about the players we retain.

Stones
Lukaku
Barkley

Who will it be next season? Davies?

True.

For me, seeing Stones, Deulofeu, Lukaku and now Barkley depart has been pretty upsetting/disappointing as it seems like we've actually brought in all the 'supporting cast' and yet got rid of the stars.

The rumoured Giroud signing to me would feel like the Williams signing last season. We lose a 'potentially' world class player who could have been immense next to Keane and in front of Pickford and replace him with an ageing player who could deliver in the short term. Now, a year later we can see that we need a new centre back to play alongside Keane and in front of Pickford. If we had Stones it would be ideal.

Sigurdsson to replace 'boyhood blue' (as we all thought) Barkley just doesn't cut it for me either. He would have been ideal with Rooney in working in tandem with Barkley to support Lukaku...but we lost him as well. So now we have the players who could have done very well in supporting Barkley and Lukaku but they've gone.

The team now looks like we've covered every position which was lacking when we had those 4 players but we haven't really replaced them.

This is a really sad day

Last time I was this gutted about a player leaving was probably Arteta

The pessimist within also can't help raising an eyebrow that both Ross and Rom want out this summer. I'm starting to worry that they know something we don't

That's a stretch. So the seven new signings (could be 10 in total) - all of which, bar Rooney, were highly sought after - are clueless?

Rom wants to play CL Mikey. We know that and he's made it clear since he signed here fgs. He didn't leave last year and another year as numero uno has done him good.

Ross, there's been rumblings since Jan time that he'd be off (heck, Jamie bloody Redknapp started saying it after that interview). Ambitions of CL, internationals etc. The fact that, despite all of our displays of intent (Schneiderlin, Rooney, Sandro, Keane, Klaassen) he still wants out tells me he made his mind up a while ago (which is backed up by the fact RK said he knew at the end of last season).

There's nothing sinister here Mikey. Please delete it before Dave goes into overdrive x
