Koeman: "Barkley looking for a new challenge"

As much as I like Barkley, it seems to be the best decision for all involved.

He clearly isn't happy at Everton, where his relationship with the manager and sections of the home crowd has been deteriorating for the better part of 12 months. He also, for me at least, represents the last remaining whiff of Martinez.

If he does go to Tottenham, I reckon Pochettino will mould him into a long-term replacement for Dembele. He certainly has the raw materials to play that role.

Not particularly arsed who comes and goes these days but when managers are using lads as pawns in their games it becomes more of a divine comedy than a game of footy.

Good luck to him. Hope he does well and sad to see him go.
Be a step down rather than up me thinks. Not shown any consistency to suggest hes a top 4 player. Not sure he had the stomach to fight for his place on the team so good luck to him.

Yes but not at the expense of an entire team that doesn't thrive under that style of management.

Koeman is too blunt for him. They just don't seem to get on. I don't think it's more complicated than that.
I think he's too blunt for many players. He caused a riot at Valencia and more than a couple of Southampton players were upset by him.

Disagree entirely.

He wants a manager who'll massage his ego and tell him he was ace even when he was crap. That's why he was good under Martinez.

You might be right about the massaging ego bit, but as a player he was much better under Koeman, especially in the second half of the season. Under Martinez he looked over weight, unfit, and was scared to close down the opposition. Last season all those problems were fixed to some degree or another. The one bit I don't understand about all this is that Koeman actually seemed to be sorting him out as a player.

Thing is , no matter what your thoughts Are, siggurdson replacing Barkley will be an upgrade on him.

Simply if nothing else because siggurdson is a team player

No CL club will come for him, if he wants to play in the Champions League it won't be with an English club. He has to go abroad
Spurs would come for him. They seem only club interested. He will get games in CL as Alli is banned. But don't think he will be in XI if he fails those big games

Seeing those comments has just dialed up the fume even higher. FFS.

I hope wherever he signs that those quotes are thrown in his face during his first press conference.

There is more to that interview that I missed out. Going on about becoming an Everton legend.

Glad I missed it out.

Raw materials maybe, football brain no. That's his problem when he thinks he messes up.

Think everyones got it right
I think the main problem is and it's a problem with most young British youngsters they don't like being told the truth in an authoritarian manner
Unfortunately Ross that's how winners become winners
