Koeman: "Barkley looking for a new challenge"

I think Ross knows his position is unattainable here. Ronald Koeman has done this to him subliminally without anybody realising. He has never got on with him since coming to Everton and made a scapegoat out of him last season. He has backed Ross into a corner and made him feel like he has to leave. Koeman is looking to have two or three players in that no. 10 role ahead of him and Ross knows his only way to go is out. Well played Ronald, you have played a blinder.

Or alternatively he could put his big boy pants on and work for what the manager wants?

Can't really say he's mastered the challenge he had. Can only see the Rodwell path for him wherever he goes. Anything north of 30 million is good but can't exactly see a queue forming and can't think of a club that would be a good fit for him other than the r/s... which would make him the mother of all Barmbys
This is about it. To move onto another challenge you either have surpassed your previous challenge or decided your current challenge is too difficult. It seems Ross wants to move up when he he hasn’t proved himself yet. Technically a great player but will be a constant let down wherever he goes. Every coach has said the same throughout his young career. On a side note, I stated this a few weeks ago and may even have got weasel points for it.

Not Koemans fault that Barkley is mentally fragile. Big contract was offered yet he rejects his boyhood club.

Think about it, strengthening that position of the pitch but put the contract down on the table anyway, if he says no let him go without a fight. Portray him to the media like it was all his doing. I think Koeman has got what he wanted without looking like a villain

Nice conspiracy theory.

However mine is that the lad has been tapped up and wants out as he has been offered more money elsewhere.

See, we can all do our own theories :)

As I've said in other threads over the months, every other player leaving I understood.

Gosling, Lescott, Rooney, Arteta etc.

With Barkley, I just think it's bonkers.

He genuinely wants Champions League football, and prompted further by not having his backside kissed by Koeman.

Still, over the years we've all constantly bemoaned a bottling mentality. Ross Barkley epitomised that.

For all the raw ability, and despite the romantic "local academy lad" - Barkley isn't good enough to be an integral part in Everton's team to reach the level above us.

Shift him out, he hasn't got the will, or the fight to improve his game and compete for his place which he has had guaranteed for years. Bring Sigurdsson in, twice the player.
