Koeman: "We've only spent £7m"

christ. will people at least wait for him to do something of import before this stuff is rolled out?

world class manager..... very lucky to have him.... lol

I am beginning to think that some are so traumatised by the horror of the last two seasons of RM that their expectations have plumetted to pre-Moyes levels. It's the only way I can explain them joining football expert Moshiri in thinking that we've gotten in something special in Golf Lundgren.

Nothing about the last 3 seasons have been memorable or worthy of note in our history, and apart from a one-off enjoyable season under RM neither of the two managers are an improvement on the level Moyes was at before he left us. Which is what we need. A clear jump up. Then we could maybe say we are lucky to have a manager.

Golf Lundgren lol

Couldn't agree more but we haven't had anything memorable or worthy of note in our history for 22 years not 3!

How do you propose we break into the top 4 or 5 after one season with our new manager?

We play in a unique league in Europe really where there are half a dozen or so strong teams setting their sights on champions league qualification. Last season saw man utd without champions league football and this season will see arsenal without it.

The teams above us have strengthened, bar Spurs, so we need to improve as well to keep the gap between us the same, and improve even more to close it.

Our mission to close the gap to the top 4 is likely to take a few seasons of decent purchases and careful youth recruitment.
Yeah, because w've never gotten higher than 6th in the last decade have we...and with less cash....hold on, I'll just check the record books....

....no, I was wrong.

Why do you do this Dave? Half the time it's people baiting you and half the time it's you doing tripe like this that derails threads. The anti board/Koeman rhetoric is pretty old now. We get it you don't like what's going on which is fair enough but do you actually need to come back to it all the time?

In response to your post it's a completely different league now to what it was even 2 years ago. Koeman has built a squad that has some semblance of a structure in mind which is far more than Martinez did. He's also clearly said he wants a striker, a defender and siggurdsson. Utd finished 6th last season after spending a boat load of money the season before. Spending does not guarantee success, though it does help unless you can do something like Leicester. We seem to be trying to emulate what spurs have done, getting our ducks in order off the pitch and not going barmy on wages which seems a sensible path to go down.

If we bring in the players koeman has said he wants then any failings are on him as its his squad. Don't and it's on the board. Pretty much standard practice at any footy club around the world. Let's give them a chance going into the new season eh.
It's not "de-railing a thread" is it? The thread is about Koeman insisting he's had a poor transfer window as a means to lower expectations. I'd say that post was ENTIRELY in line with the thread's topic.

Morning David are you looking forward to today.

Guess we can't get Giroud now

I was talking to a real ITK last night she said Giroud never on the radar, never been spoken to or approached as he will not consider
leaving London and common knowledge amongst ITK`s ...........
Nobody is coming until Barklay sale frees up the funds............

And you can't use the scenerio a few years back to compare. The current league is more competitive.

Move your goal post when you want.

Slate Moshiri - small or negative spend.

Slate Koeman - gross spend so he needs to get top 4 even the Sky6 bar Spurs outspent him.

Win-win.
Lol.

No, just no.

If you think that's going to be a valid excuse if after spending a fortune we miss out on top 5 you are mistaken.

This league has always had 6 teams who should *ALWAYS* finish above Everton, The fact it didn't always work out that way....and with much less cash for us to spend back before the last season or so....was the achievement.

If we cant do that again now having spent much more money then people are entitled to ask WTF is going on.

What would be acceptable for you?
Why are you going there? It'll change next week like it did all last season. First it was we can't score goals...and the. We scored goals. Just went on from there.

This offseason it was how we NEEDED a net spend to get better, yet now it's we've had a massive GROSS spend and Koeman should have us top 4. Absurd.

More Ronko excuses early.

Liverpool's bench is poor. Spurs bench is poor.

Both clubs have spent big but have also brought in good players for their starting 11 and got on with it.

They've already made offers and have a 60M line of credit, so they have the funds to do it whenever. Don't be silly.

Koeman spoke to Giroud on the phone, no?

Yeah mate: we all know how the selection of this data and that data can make Martinez look this way or that way. It's all partial and nonsensical.

The relevant thing (both on that point and for this thread) is that he set a points record here that needs to be at least gotten near to again for us to do well this season and following ones.

He reached a line further forward in that respect than we've ever done and that's what all subsequent Everton managers need to be shooting for to give us a good chance of securing CL football.
