Kone Signs on 3 Year Deal

People seem to think that when a player become 30 he suddenly becomes ****e, people forget that Di Natale is 6 years older than Kone and scored 26 goals in 41 last season.

Nobody is saying that his age affects his ability? They are saying it affects his re-sale value, which it does.

west ham have bid for bony aswell £10 mil maybe we should yano bid for him aswell? 24, smashed up his league and has a near 1 in 2 ratio for his international side please martinez much better than this playboy

Can't believe the abuse this signing is getting, were skint, we need a centre forward and only Benteke gave us more trouble then this lad last season. 5m to me could be money very well spent

Most salient point yet - and perfectly simple. If we can get 6 years of service to a high level then it will more than be worth the trade-off in lack of resale value, given we've only spent £5 million. For example Yakubu we bought at 25; in theory giving us plenty of resale value, but lost twice as much as we're even paying for Kone (if the reports are to be believed) only 3 years later.

We don't have £10 million to spend on one player, if we sell Fellini for example then yes, we could go in for him.

Comparing Di Natale to Kone ffs.

Like us re-signing Yakubu and then saying "but Pippo Inzaghi was slotting past Liverpool in the Champions League final when he was 36!"

Arouna Kone, **** me, a horrendous first signing.

Suppose Richard Wright was a much better first signing. Give the lad and manager a chance will you

we dont know that mate, and regardless we have jelavic who would fetch us £6 mil+ to go towards the deal we should be making it happen when he is this seasons Benteke people will be moaning we never went in for him he is class

i dont care about resale!

i just think he is bang average and at 30 he aint goona change now!

plus he wasnt even the best player in a ****e wigan side but yet worth £5m!!

Alan Ainscow, Jim Arnold, Alan Biley, Mick Ferguson, Mike Walsh, Neville Southall and Mickey Thomas became known as the Magnificent Seven - with all enticed to Goodison by Kendall prior to the start of the 1981-1982 campaign.
Only Southall went on to make anything like a telling contribution, however.

& we all know what Howard went on to achieve in that 1st spell.

other clubs buy then sell their players they take a risk on that by thinking they will get the fees they want and overpay on the players they do get

everton don't operate like that, we have always worked within our constraints and most of the time we will sell players to fund moves so we don't overspend

its clever and clearly logical but ****ing boring

thats why when west ham spend 15 mil on caroll or cardiff spend 7.5 mil on a danish striker we react by being jealous

but lets face it, they will yoyo every season and we will remain a constant. whats better in the long term.
