Based on the youtube vieos, he doesn't look slow, looks like he has a little bit of pace, especially for his height!

Lad he's 6 foot 8 therefore can hold the ball up but isn't technically brilliant.

It's a simple formula really, the taller you are the worse your technique.

On behalf of those of us who are not afflicted by the Napoleon complex and frankly don't care if the bloke in front stands up as we can still see over him, I'd like to add my tuppence:

by technique do you assume 'ball at feet, stepovers, dribbling and the like'. There's a lot of technique involved in receiving a 50 yard punt, trapping it / laying it off / holding it up/ knock on. Also remember one of our most beloved big fellas, Duncan, was very adept with ball at feet, both feet.

Also on an earlier remark .. seems to me that Bobby has begun to mix it up more in terms of getting the ball forward. Seemed to me that Lukaku has been receiving a lot of long balls in the last 2 or 3 games. If this is so, this lad could be very useful, especially playing with Lukaku running onto knock-ons against what is left of the defence.
 

Anyone who thinks he is useless technically due to his build are highly, highly mistaken. I cannot wait for this misnomer to be proven wrong if he signs. Its such an ignorant assumption to make but so many fall into the trap of doing so.

This season has effectively been a write off for him as far as I'm concerned. Anzhi sold half their squad in the summer (which explains the 0 wins in 19 league games). Going from having Willian, Boussoufa and Ionov behind you to what they have now would stall the best of them. Think along the lines of Naismith, Osman and Gueye behind Lukaku are you're not far off the mark.
