Think we will go for a centre half personally, this early buissness has me guessing that we may do a bit a buissness, he will have the whole of Jan to scour the market when it becomes active if this comes of. Maybe a little bit of buissness on a Gos or a Coleman as well as a loan.

The only positive bar short term gain i can see in getting Donavan is if he and we like each other and it becomes an annual thing.

He should get a centre half, but I dont think they'll be too great...just a solid filler. Neil and Heitinga will be the main pairing...then Distin will be back soon...Neville too so Heitinga will be a centre half by trade...then Jags will be back.

So the centre half wont be too great.

You're all continually missing the point here, you weapons:

1 - A decent quality player who could deliver very decent quality and options for a vital period of the season when were looking to get back on track.

2 - Additional cover for the Africans Nations Cup.

3 - He's got a point to prove in Europe and the quality to suggest he might do it.

4 - Moyes has been criticised for doing his business late, this one is almost wrapped up so we have the benefit of a loan signing from the beginning of January.

5 - Eligible for Europa League.

6 - No risk.

Hes gonna cost money tho chico. Its not like hes gonna play for free and we get nothing at all in return. Apart from hopefully a solid player, which would be great I admit. I think people are worried that its a dead end deal. Im not overally bothered, judge the merits in Feb or something really.

Why didn't you say that earlier you lemon?

I'm sold. The number layout done it.

Cant see the logic in buying or loaning a centre half, he bought 2 in the Summer.

Im working on the logic that currently we have two full backs playing in CD and the defence has been bad all year mate!

One injured till the new year at the earliest, one going to ANC and the other reportedly due back after 9 months injury at the end of Jan.

It's been rumored that Donovan might have a buyout clause in the new deal after the world cup. So, maybe this could lead to something more permanent (with a brief pause from april-june). Pure speculation, but not impossible.

He really could stink the joint up and as Chico said...no risk there.

Good deal for Everton all the way around as I see it.

Better, if we had a right to buy clause - as we have with every other loan deal.

But regardless, fingers crossed he does a job if required.

Do we know for a fact that there is no right to buy clause?

I would think he re-signed with MLS just to insure that they get a hefty transfer fee if he did move on.

It's a win, win for me.

An player who obviously has some talent, coming in for 3 months at hardly any cost. Given our horrendous injury crisis, we need as many players as we can get.

Great deal for me. He's meant to have pace, so it's only another plus point.

Donovan, who is keen to move to Europe to maintain his match fitness ahead of the World Cup next summer, said: "You want to go where you are wanted and Everton have been incredibly professional and expressed their interest and I feel that is a place where I would feel very comfortable. There's already a lot of Americans that play there [in the Premier League] and it would be interesting. But we will cross that bridge when we come to it.

There's two Americans you who need some mates just over the park pal.

Good deal pour moi, can't lose really. Didn't United sign Larsson in a similar deal a few years back? Or have I just made that up? As far as I'm aware there was no clause in place there either...
