Donovan cant play on Saturday, was in Moyes' programme notes for the Burnley game saying he isnt available. Think he will be able to play in other rounds of the cup providing we get through but definatley not on Saturday.

Good to know and too bad.

I'd have like to have seen him hit the ground running, literally.

I just read an article where he was quoted.... he has his work permit, he is itching to play his first game, he is delighted with the opportunity, blah, blah, blah....

The loan deal begins Jan. 1. He is then quoted as saying "I’ll be travelling over on January 1 and I can’t wait to get started."

Really? Tell me if I am overreacting but it seems it would have shown a little extra "want to" to travel over before the Burnley game to support the squad and be ready to hit the ground Jan. 1.

Don't get me wrong because I like the deal and really think he can add something. At the very least another body. My hope is that this will help give the club more US awareness. But come one Landon. Where all pre-New Year's flights booked?

I can handle him wanting to spend christmas and new year with his family instead of all alone in a foreign land. So long as he turns up fit and with a positive attitude, that is all I can ask for.

I am guessing that this has to do with the Insurance and that is why is not allowed to train with Everton. I think that it will transfer kick in etc.. Jan. 2 then Everton pays the bill and not LA. I am guessing it works like car insurance you can't drive it until the title or ownership papers is transfered to the new owner or in Everton's case the renter.

He wanted to spend NYE in Frisco - was back home for Christmas and am utterly amazed how much that one stop light town has grown - the FC Dallas Park doesn't seem all bad - thoughts?

Been there to watch both the Dynamo and Everton play in Frisco.

The stadium is nice. Problem is that it's out in the burbs and not a lot of people are willing to make the trip.

Ask the FC Dallas supporters how they feel about it and they'll probably say the same thing.

I quite like the Pizza Hut Park. It's the right size for MSL plus parking is free and tickets are easy to come by. Like Bill says... it is a long haul for many in the metroplex. Admittedly, I have only been to a couple of times games though. There's only so many entertainment $s in the budget.

Chicago, how long has it been since you've been to Frisco? If it has been more than five years, it's must be like Dorothy leaving Kansas for Oz. By the way, Dr. Pepper ballpark for the Roughriders is a great little stadium for Double-A Baseball as well. We have had an 8-game package for the last few years and enjoy it mightily.

If he impresses (heres hoping) it is very possible that we could get him on an extended loan if the MLS season is delayed due to contract negotiations (the MLS board - which Donovan sits on - has yet to agree a new collective bargaining agreement past Feb '10).

I saw that brought up on another forum and I don't think that he'd do that. It would be tantamount to crossing the picket line.

If the MLS contract isn't done, he'll sit with the rest of the players. My guess is that they'll get everything worked out though and he'll be back in time for the Galaxy's first match of the 2010 season.

So I guess Landon is now officially part of Everton. I hope he does well and comes back to my team on time.(y)

Landon usually doesn't pull off cheeky moves like Dempsey does. Landon is much more timid about those things and he usually takes the easy route with the best percentages. I hear him talking about percentages of success all the time. Sometimes you wish he would just be selfish and abandon his damn percentages.

When he does try something fancy though it usually pays off like in this video on his facebook. Go to the videos on the left side and click the one that says "Donovan's got skills".
I can't post links yet but it is facebook/LandonDonovan

P.S. Landycakes is a nickname that has stuck with him from earlier in his career when he used to disappear in big games. So just so you know it is a put down not a name of endearment. Good luck guys!

Good to see he has now arrived and is suitably wrapped up against what we're being warned is going to be the coldest winter in the UK (outside of chilly Scotland that is) for 25 years!!! I hope he settles in quickly and makes the impact I personally believe he's more than capable of.
