Last Film You Watched

Textbook black comedy. Absolutely brilliant, loved it.

Worth it just for Jason Isaac's Zhukov....

Just back from seeing Yardie. It's had some lukewarm reviews but I liked it. It's well directed for a first timer, Elba has obviously been learning the craft from his peers. There's a few missteps along the way but that may be due to the source material. Good cast, solid recreation of 80s London steering clear of obvious touchstones, unsurprisingly great soundtrack. Good film say I ... and I.

Day off work tomorrow so I'm watching that and one other. Probably Searching though I would quite like to catch Equalizer 2 before it goes off the big screen.

Went to see The Nun, it was ok, a lot of overacting and hamming it up. I got in for free with a voucher from Lloyds bank, it wouldn't have ranked as ok if I'd paid.

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark - a classic 9/10
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom - Fun, although a lot is ruined by the obnoxious woman and the kid 6/10
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - At times even better than Raiders imo. Some weak parts tho and I'm actually not a massive fan of Sean Connery in this. 8/10
Munich - Good, but not in any way exceptional 7/10
8 Mile - Always loved this movie. Watched it again tonight for the first time in years and it's still wonderful 9/10

I know its a bad clich when people say the book was better....etc but if you read, the book Vengeance about Munich by Geoorge Jonas is great and well worth finding

We differ wildly on the last two, posted this a bit ago:

Indiana Jones trilogy:

Raiders 8/10...great fun, great jokes.
Temple 8/10...still fun, but dark as fook (in an entertaining way...KALIMAR!), let down by overdoing the white saviour angle.
Crusade 3/10...what a disappointment. Lazy script, Harrison Ford's timing was all off, forgettable baddies and worst of all outdoing the white-saviour angle of ToD by having Indy's chubby egyptian mate from Raiders who was switched-on and a bit of a revolutionary leader in that film suddenly turn into a primitive who can't fathom what a tank is: "they're in the belly of that steel beast."

Interestingly (above posts) the last film I watched was Raiders Of The Lost Ark. It is my second favorite film of all time (after The Empire Strikes Back) and I must have watched it well over 100 times.

I give it 10/10 - probably the best action adventure movie ever.
Temple Of Doom - 7/10
Last Crusade - 5/10
Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull - 0/10

My top 5 films ever are:

1) The Empire Strikes Back
2) Raiders Of The Lost Ark
3) Star Wars - A New Hope
4) Blade Runner (I like bot the original and the new one equally)
5) Alien

I'm a sucker for top xx lists...your list is very strong: 10/10, 8/10, 9/10, 9/10, 9/10 respectively, so we have similar taste.

How would you rate my top 5 out of interest?

1. 2001 (great remastering on the bluray)
2. Excalibur (ditto)
3. Oldboy (korean version, must-watch in original language with subs otherwise so much acting performance goes missing)
4. There Will Be Blood (astonishing performance from DDL, superlative camera & audio work)
5. Apocalypse Now (not the Redux, but the original cut)

1. 9/10 - brilliant when it came out, stands up well today. Meanders a little for me in parts, but its fantastic.
2. Not seen it - I will now
3. Ditto
4. DDL performance 10/10, movie 9/10
5. 10/10. Incredible.
