J.D's Revenge - 1976
Aspiring New Orleans law student Ike goes for a night out, gets hypnotised and is possessed by the restless spirit of 1940's gangster JD looking to seek revenge.
Not entirely cohesive and a tad silly but an excellent cast (Glynn Turman, Louis Gossett Jr, Joan Pringle) take it above the sum of it's parts. Enjoyed it more than I thought I would.
But then I am a sucker for most 60's/70's films that are heavily location shot in rundown areas. Love the look of it all.

Get Out - Was decent but overhyped in my opinion. No jumpy scenes and no suspense for me. Found it quite predictable.

Obviously you can have your own opinion but it isn't really a horror film, its more of social commentary.

You'll like Angst Essen Seele Auf: 70's German working class melodrama with themes still relevant today. It's shot by Rainer Fassbinder who's one of the greats:

Watched the Shining for the umpteenth time last night.
It`s not a patch on the book, but still a masterpiece.
Jack Nicholson at his finest and given licence to go full on Nicolas Cage, with the over acting.
Every time I watch it, I see something I`ve missed.
Last night, it suddenly dawned on me, that the young lad who played his son, put in one hell of a performance.

I've only seen it once and already respected the lad, and Olive Oyl too. Shelley Duvall gets a really unfair rap but she was as good as Jack in my book, and in the end her character
was the hero
As a multi-watcher, what's your theory as to how
Jack got out of the locked cupboard? As the fillm otherwise for me isn't supernatural, it's all in Jack's head and his behaviour gives the kid waking nightmares. But I have no explanation for the cupboard escape.
You know what, I`ve never thought about the cupboard scene before.
I`ll save that one for next time

Ennio Morricone is a fantastic composer. I especially love the score he did for Orca - The Killer Whale which might be my favourite of all time.
