I thought it played like a modern western,I loved it,every character from the old fella at the beginning was exactly that " a character" loved the old woman in the diner as well

I posted these two on the previous page, but the images didn`t come out right, so I`ve done it again : Mystery Road and Goldstone.

If you liked Hell or High Water, you will love these two.

The only way I can describe them, is if you imagine " No Country for Old Men " and moved it to the Outback.

They are both truly stand out films, if little known.

Aboriginal detective - Jay Swan ( played superbly by Aaron Pederson ), wades through the cess pit of life in small outback towns, all the time facing hostility from his own community, the white community, organised crime and the mining industry.

Mystery Road is the first film and Goldstone follows on.

Really difficult subject matter - child prostitution, human trafficking, child murder, but both are must watch films.

10/10 for both.

It feels more like a Western, than a modern day crime thriller.

Definitely echoes the old west and frontier justice. Summed up by the Texas Ranger Parker....

A long time ago your ancestors was the Indians until someone came along and killed them. Broke 'em down made you into one of them. 150 years ago all this was my ancestors land. Everything you could see, everything you saw yesterday. Until the grandparents of these folks took it. Now it's been taken from them. Cept it ain't no army doin' it, it's those sons of bitches (The Bank) right there.

Definitely be looking out for them then.
I watched Mystery Road, was blown away by it and went straight online, found Goldstone and stayed up until the small hours watching it.

It`s a long time since I`ve done that ;)
BBC iplayer has a 6 part box set of mystery road (not sure if the film was first)and also has Goldstone available to watch in the film section but they won't be on there for too long so get your skates on.
