Last Film You Watched

So Karen Gilan makes her directorial debut with ''The Party's Just Beginning'' curious about it, love her though not sure directing is her thing. Let's see

About to board at Charlotte NC, may watch a couple of films en route to Heathrow.
My wife and I were chatting to an American-sounding lady in the boarding queue. Turns out that not only had she been a UK resident for almost 40 years (she's 69) but she was also Sinitta's mother (who genuinely looked no more than the same age - turns out she had Sinitta when she was only 14) and an actress. Her name is Miquel Brown and said one of her recent parts was as ''Exterminator One' in 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them', so that's the film I watched on the plane.

As far as the film is concerned, I never realised it was another J. K. Rowling invention and only watched it to see Ms Brown's performance. The film was OK, I suppose, but I found reading about Miquel on Wikipedia more interesting.

After Earth

M.Night Shammyleather is credited as director but apparently it was more a Will Smith effort and it is a pretty poor effort. Will mumbles his way through a load of unnecessary exposition while his son Jaden runs about a bit, does a bit of incredibly flat narration and other bits of poor acting.

There's a weirdly altruistic bird of prey, a crap blind monster, lazy eco commentary and odd evolution theory with a sheen of Scientology all over it.

I can forgive a lot of flaws in a film but it's just beyond boring.

Creed 2.

It’s not as good as Creed one, nor does it have the Goodison park ending but it’s still pretty good.

Has a nod, in some cases pretty big nods, to more or less every Rocky film bar 5. Thank god.

Deffo worth a watch though.

This is just out on Sky Cinema. Usual musical type thing that some people seem to love. It is OK even if you don't. Songs are quite clever in that you try to think which recent hit they sound like. Actors do well and Zac Efron must have thought he had never left High School Musical. Not a bad film to watch with a takeaway.
