Last Film You Watched

Just watched The Machinist, some kind of psychological thriller with a super skinny Christian Bale. I've seen this before, was one of the first flicks i seen at FACT when it opened and forget Bale was even in this, he is that unrecognisable from the fella doing workouts in American Psycho.
Very disturbing with lots of flash backs and his mind playing tricks on him, his acting in this is great and i really enjoyed some of the cinematography, worth a watch IMO, its hard to tell when watching it what ia happening and what is only hapening in his head, weird film

The transformation he did between this and Batman was insane.

Watched this over the weekend after reading about it in an article about horror films that go under the radar and really enjoyed it. The central narrative has Matthew McConaughey explaining to an FBI agent how he knows who the serial killer known as the “God’s Hand Killer” is. Can’t really elaborate much more than that as the film has a few surprising twists which I wouldn’t want to spoil. Definitely worth a watch though.

I also watched Green Room again which is just a fantastic, nasty, tightly structured film which flies by when you watch it. Evil Neo-Nazi Patrick Stewart is just great

Available on Sky. A man returns in the 1970s to, a very different, Beirut to the one he left so that he can negotiate the release of an abducted friend. Nothing new here but it was well done...

I, Frankenstein - Utter gash and it's hilarious how they frame the last scene with the confidence that there was a franchise to be had. I can't think of many films with a worse reliance on stodgily told exposition.

Midnight Special - Really loved it till the "big reveal" which just seemed like a bit of a lazy afterthought. Better viewed as the story of those involved rather than what the deal is with the kid. If your comfortable ignoring the reason for all the mad stuff and instead watch how the characters deal with and are motivated by it then there's a great film in there.

I’ve watched 2 movies this weekend.

The Lego Movie 2 (2019)

Nowhere near as good as the first one.
3/5

Popstar - Never Stop Never Stopping (2016)

Ace. Thought it was going to be turd but laughed hard. A lot.
Any fan of B99 will enjoy.
4/5

Just watched The Haunting again, the 1963 British film, such a classic film, the set design in this alone is amazing, along with the use of camera angles and sound. Kind of film you can watch over an over without getting board as you see new things in it each time, a real masterpiece.
