Well - theres Mortal Kombat shooting in South Australia at the moment. They’ve sucked up a bunch of crew which made it tricky to crew the show i was working on. That was a show called ‘Fallout’ based on the British Atomic tests at Maralinga in the 1950’s. We had built an army base in a old reservoir locally (Sydney)and then moved to SA for desert exteriors. Should be a good show - 6 eps and biggest name attached is James Cromwell.

Baz Luhrmans ‘Elvis’ starts soon up on the Gold Coast. Seen a few crew head up there to start on that one. Tom Hanks, Harvey Keitel and some youngster Disney TV star a The King. Filming next year, and if we know Baz it will probably take 2 years and triple the budget.

Marvel has moved into Sydneys Fox Studios and will spend the next few years dominating the only proper Studio space left in Sydney. That will be ‘Shang chi’ followed by ‘Thor love and Thunder’ The blowback from the Fox / Disney merger has pushed Mortal Kombat and Elvisand any other big film to other states. This has a created a huge problem for the NSW government because they’ve also shut down the Film complex at Callan Park (in the Sydney there were 3 film studio / offices now only 2. 1 now Marvel / Disney have taken over.) Typically at the studios you could put several productions in there - but Marvel is so big it takes up the lot.

Mad Max ‘Furiosa’ is on hold until Miller finishes ‘Three Thousand Years of Longing’ an Epic about the Ottoman Empire or something. The Designer of Fury Road told me he’d put some farm paddocks on hold for it but wasn’t sure when they’d get a green light. I’m sure Miller was in some financial dispute with Warner Bros but it hasn’t soured the relationship.
Awesome work man. Told my daughter about Elvis she’s delighted ;)

It Chapter 2.

Its a well made film, but where it works with the kids it doesn’t work on this level with adults. The threat isn’t real; the characters can take a moment to have a heart to heart while being chased etc. The clown seems less mischievous this round, the point of it all lost on the fact that he knows that they know how to beat him yet he never changes his game plan. Theres too many holes, too much exposition and Pennywise seems to eat everyone except the people come back to kill him. Theres some interesting jump scares great casting and plenty of laughs but ultimately not as good as the first.

isn’t the entire point of pennywise that he thrives off their fear and makes them taste better to him, hence why he continues to torture them.

I enjoyed the chapter 2, there’s going to some plots they need to leave out due to the size of the novel.

Just annoying he chases them around for 15 minutes when they aren't really scared of him anyway. Would have been much better going after Mike while he was alone and have them all come back for the funeral. You would have saved half an hour on pointless exposition to get the characters back up to speed by just throwing them into it. Some of them would have kids and they connect with the town kids and bullies - rather than bringing back Mullett to no effect. They then have partners etc that could have been bumped off creatively by Pennywise.

I should have made that movie.

The book is the same.

Part two when they`re adults is much weaker than part one when they`re kids.

The mini series with Tim Curry as Pennywise, was the same too.

Curry was a much better Pennywise too ( imo )

a lot of Kings books books have a multitude of hidden meanings, and it can seem pointless to an effect. I can’t remember the reason why he brings the lad back from the mental institution, but the book does delve a bit more into it

Joker

Whilst I don’t think it’s a masterpiece or anything like that I still really enjoyed it and how dark it was. The acting was spot on especially when he goes on the Murray show. It also makes me a little sad this is a stand-alone as I think there is huge potential there particularly in a psychological battle with Batman.

I’ve read a fair number of reviews and some “critics” these days come across more as political activists rather than film enthusiasts.

Come to Daddy is meant to be good but that's all I know from above.

Went to see Joker yesterday.

I've never been a fan of Superhero films other than the Nolan Batman ones (and it's not like I'm a fan - they're just the ones I've watched and liked).

Was really impressed. Obviously, in 2019 it's not cool to not be extreme to one end or the other, like. The leftist uproar in America is so weird, though.

Anyway, it's good.
Got its plotholes but I do like how they kind of suggested they're not actually plotholes at the end, for those who have seen it.

What did you consider a plothole mate?
