What did you consider a plothole mate?
Thanks. I won't.
Maybe not a hole as such, but think the script was pretty clunky at times. I also thought everything was just too 'easy' once he went fully weird and into the Joker mode.
But, like I said, with the ending I kind of get it.
Personally I'm of the opinion the entire story was a fabrication of Arthur's mind, which I think in this case does work. It's like an origin story without it actually being an origin.
Your last paragraph, i didnt think that at all...some parts yes (as shown in the movie) but all of it...no.
Thats where he built his reputation...
I saw Re-Animator in the pictures, wasn’t impressed at the time but I’d like to see it again

Maybe.
I think it's open to interpretation and any outcome is valid really.
I'm only going off Ledger's Joker. So I suppose it's hard trying to imagine this version become that based on the events in the film.
If it's just creating the Joker all over again as a new character then it'd make sense for the story to be 'real'.
I do think it blurred the line between reality and fantasy really well.
Think lots of people are doing this and in my opinion it's a little unfair. What you watch in The Dark Knight is a fully fledged Joker whereas this, if even that character, has only just begun. It's almost like saying you can't imagine the little Bruce Wayne getting mouth-fingered by a stranger as the crime-fighting vigilante Batman.
Also best use of the killing of Bruce’s parents. I never thought i’d say that as I can’t believe they did it again.. but this was actually the perfect context for it and brilliantly executed. Also what happened to his ‘girlfriend’?? Implied that he had killed her - or was it another fantasy?
That was one of the two questions I wanted answering: did he kill that lass and her kid? Was his footprint bloody in Arkham from the injuries or did he kill the therapist?
deffo have to watch it again. Got goosebumps when he realises he’s been fantasising about being with her. Its so well done you kind of question everything he experiences after that
Yeh I think they played it really well with the delusional side. You could think "that's not realistic that he'd just march in and kiss her" but he obviously had a shift in personality after the subway killings so it didn't seem too farfetched at all.
Defo killed the therapist.
Don't think he killed the "girlfriend", but thinking back now not sure why. Did he do any dance after the scene where she asked him to leave? I certainly didn't get the impression he did, and he let the dwarf go, so inclined to believe he let her live too.
Yeah TP set the fantasies up really well. There's just enough between them in the lift scene to suggest that the kiss could have happened. It was weird that she just disappeared out of the film for ages after the hospital. Though that could be seen as a 'clue' looking back.
The final chapter could be all fantasy, but all his previous fantasies that were shown were brief. Plus imo there's no way this is meant to build into Ledger's Joker. He's way to old to be the Joker Heath portrayed as Bruce's parents are killed during this, which puts it 20 odd years before that. He would be about 70 by the time The Dark Knight takes place!!![]()
Only reason I was a bit 50/50 on killing Sophie is because that was the day when it all changed wasn't it and with his disturbing final gun to the head and rushed exit. Not sure though as clearly he was fond of her to become delusional over her affection! I don't think the kiss happened though as she says "you're Arthur from down the hall right?" which you wouldn't really say after kissing a man and closing the door to your apartment haha. To be fair, you say she disappeared for ages after the hospital but you've got to remember the film is only set over a like a week max if you think about it! A lof of what happens after the hosp is only a couple of days (from memory).
