Last Film You Watched

Watched the first hour and a quarter before the football and I'm not impressed so far. I'm not particularly hopeful for the rest as the fundamental issues will still be present no matter how much colour grading and changing aspect ratio you do.

All the stuff you hated from the original is still there but I’m just loving the 4 hour superhero goodness. Steppenwolf got a much needed face lift and some of the fight scenes were beefed up. I feel they’ve added a lot more context to the conflict in this cut which the original massively skimmed over.

Snyder cut is decent; much better than the original. Very long but I don’t mind that. Fixed a few issues in the first film not explaining the backstory to anything whilst giving it a much better ending. Probs wouldn’t watch again because of duration but pretty good. Still some horrendous pieces of acting/writing but that’s DC for you.

Not sure if it’s a NowTV issue but the film randomly cut to a black screen 3-4 times which was poor.

Watched my first two Hammer horror films the past couple of days.

Blood from the mummy's tomb (1971)
Good little film and the main actress (Valerie Leon) was very good looking.
6/10

Dracula/Horror of Dracula (1958)
A good version of the classic Dracula story. Christopher Lee is the fourth actor I see portray the character and, like the other 3, he was great at it. I like him better than Gary Oldman and Bela Lugosi, but not quite as much as Klaus Kinski.
7/10

Snyder Cut Justice League WOW 9/10

Honestly how you take that JL movie and create one of the best superhero movies in a long long time.

It's a crime how Warner Bros completely self sabotaged a film which would have not only set up a multi Billion dollars franchise is simply bananas.

It's long it flies by plus if you get NOW app on you get a free trial if you haven't before so you can watch it for free.

Honestly up there with the best Marvel can do.

The first hour is outstanding in terms of setting up 3 new characters then it's just gets miles better. Plot is very good for a 4hr movie which doesn't leave you yawning plus for a comic book film, it has some grounded logic behind it.

Writing was good Cyborg is a very tough ask for a new character who doesn't have much of a fanbase but he is the centre of the movie and the heart.

A lot of it was far better than Avengers Age of Ultron and some parts of Endgame and some other Marvel efforts *cough Black Panther*

Acting wise, Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman plus Flash are outstanding like.
Some ok performances and then Amber Heard but she looks so good moist!

So so many little touches for fanboys and the CGI on the new stuff is fine but it's a great great film.

Another little hidden gem on Prime, but you'll need to be quick, it comes off in a couple of days. A charming yarn of reincarnation and reconnection with brilliant performances from a first rate cast, Peter O'Toole is equally wonderful and heartbreaking as an irascible and damaged elderly aristocrat and Sam Neill, as always, mf'ing rocks.
Always found Sam Neill annoying for no reason that I could explain

Having finished it now I pretty much agree with this completely. It's now a decent superhero film which is definitely too long but having split it in two helped with that. Extra backstory helped a lot with making the story more coherent. Adding in Darkseid gave the the story more gravity too as I always thought Steppenwolf was a bit pants.

I still think Snyder relies way too much on style over substance (and a lot of the "style" in this film isn't even that great). I think the fact he tried to put all this in one film shows that he isn't a great storyteller. It really should have been 2 films from the outset which would have helped so much. Admittedly a lot of that probably lies with WB but he should never have tried to make this story into one film. God knows what his cut for cinema would have been like had he been able to finish it first time round because it certainly wouldn't have been 4 hours long.

On a more personal point, I also found that I just didn't care that much. That could well be due to how poor all the DC films in this universe have been (barring first Wonder Woman). But I didn't really care about most of the characters at all. I liked Wonder Woman and The Flash but the others I just couldn't get on board with. I wasn't bored by the film, just wasn't very invested either.

Agree with the above, its a much better film and makes way more sense. Good character development and gets rid of the bad Whedon effort. Only halfway through but still not a patch on the MCU and the 4:3... what was he thinking.

Personally felt Cyborg was the most cringe and worst acted in the film along with Queen Hippolyta.
