Extra backstory helped a lot with making the story more coherent. Adding in Darkseid gave the the story more gravity too as I always thought Steppenwolf was a bit pants.

I still think Snyder relies way too much on style over substance (and a lot of the "style" in this film isn't even that great). I think the fact he tried to put all this in one film shows that he isn't a great storyteller. It really should have been 2 films from the outset which would have helped so much. Admittedly a lot of that probably lies with WB but he should never have tried to make this story into one film. God knows what his cut for cinema would have been like had he been able to finish it first time round because it certainly wouldn't have been 4 hours long.

On a more personal point, I also found that I just didn't care that much. That could well be due to how poor all the DC films in this universe have been (barring first Wonder Woman). But I didn't really care about most of the characters at all. I liked Wonder Woman and The Flash but the others I just couldn't get on board with. I wasn't bored by the film, just wasn't very invested either.

Yeh I’ll be honest outside of Batman I find a lot of the JL superhero’s to be a bit naff. I’ve never, ever been interested in Superman. Still very much sticking to the Watchmen/Batman end of the DC spectrum. Some of the music in this film is terrible too I noticed like the scene when Aquaman first swims to the Atlantean throne I was just facepalming with the soundtrack to it.

As said above Cyborg was really poor and really overacted. Also think Deathstroke’s choice of actor looks hilariously bad. To think Deadpool is a rip off of him too!

I was reading an article and apparently he’s obsessed with 4:3 and wanted it all along. Didn’t bother me since my TV is huge but can see why so many people are pissed. Wonky aspect ratios should be reserved for quirky standalone films like The Lighthouse.

As I say, nothing I can explain. I'm not even suggesting he's a bad actor by any stretch. I certainly wouldn't go ott as he's one of those actors who seems to have one register. Nothing wrong with that in itself. Some of my favourite actors have made a career out of playing themselves (Michael Caine, John Malkovich, Sean Connery). Just something about Neill that gets up my nose.

I'm like that with Rebecca Hall, no idea what it is about her, I'm sure she's a nice person and she's a perfectly fine actor, its just every time I see her in a fillum I wanna throw things at her.

It's a crime how Warner Bros completely self sabotaged a film which would have not only set up a multi Billion dollars franchise is simply bananas.

It's long it flies by plus if you get NOW app on you get a free trial if you haven't before so you can watch it for free.

Honestly up there with the best Marvel can do.

It will be interesting to see where DC go from here, if the film is a success, do they carry on with this cast or change it around? I heard that the Flash film is still happening and Aquaman 2, but there is now a new Batman (different universe) and there is going to be a new Superman. I guess they could use the Flash film to explain that, as there is going to be different universes in that film. Though that could be quite similar to Marvel and their Dr Strange 2 film.

The music is so bad in basically the whole film. Really weird choices throughout. Agree on Cyborg too, just a ball of angst and gritted teeth in a clunky CGI suit

Almost fell off my sofa in cringe when he put up the little hologram of Superman flying around lol

I’ll be honest not a single one of those character/actor combos I’d really rush to see. I haven’t really enjoyed any of the “prequels”. I’m actually a big fan of Affleck as Batman but I don’t like watching this older, less impressive version of Batman.

God forbid how The Batman would have turned out with him as the lead!
