Last Film You Watched

American honey.

Classic case of a film ruining itself by being too long.

It’s at least an hour too long. Why did they think a film like that needs to be nearly three hours long.

It’s a shame as it’s great to until a point and then you’re wondering when it’s finishing.

Love this film. Feel like the 3 hours fly by, I watch it fairly regularly (for a 3 hour film)

I loved the first two hours of it, but couldn’t believe how long it was on for.

I love a slow burner of a film but did think at least 30 minutes of this could’ve been left on the floor.

Still, it is very good.

Danger Close : The Battle for Long Tan.

True story of an inexperienced Australian and New Zealand platoons battle for their lives against a Vietnamese regiment, during the Vietnam War.

Massively outnumbered and outgunned, with senior officers who bottle it and aren’t prepared to make decisions, the junior officers disobey orders and risk court martial and go against those in command to take the fight to the Vietcong and rescue pockets of pinned down soldiers.

Starts off a bit shaky, but develops into a very good film and a fitting tribute to the incredible bravery and selfishness of the soldiers.

Powerful stuff at the end too.

The entire family watched the new 4K disc of The Ten Commandments. Great job on the disc, although needless to say the film is a very long haul, and a giant tub of Quality Street took a right battering through it. Always liked Yvonne de Carlo, so she kinda steals the film IMHO.

Had a bit of a Tarantino-fest during the international break.

The Hateful Eight and finally caught up on Jackie Brown.

The former was overblown, self indulgent but well written and entertaining enough, 45 minutes too long though. The latter was tremendous, absolute sin that it took me so long to watch it.

Also, for all of you catching Seaspiracy or anything related to fishing, massive book recommendation for you: Mark Kurlansky - Cod, the biography of the fish that changed the world. I can't speak highly enough of this book, it's genuinely one of the most interesting things I've ever read and I go back to it at least once every 18 months.

Having watched Black Fish, I couldn’t bring myself to watch this.

Mate, do yourself a favour and throw it on. I’ve got 20 minutes left of it and honestly I consider myself a well informed person. Some of the statistics and places you end up I honestly didn’t see coming. Brilliant documentary.

couldn’t have come at a worse time after my traditional Good Friday fish and chip tea
