Last Film You Watched

I last watched the heat with the missus, Not a bad film actually.

I fell asleep half way through so can't give a full review, but it is basically a Womens comedy with some good lines threw in, for example;

''what did you just throw at me?''
''A Watermelon''
''Bitch i always knew you were racist!''

Hobbit pt2. - largely self-indulgent affair with very little end product. 2/5.

Gravity - Sandra Bullock in good movie shocker! feck me, talk about having a bad day at the office. A Disaster movie rolled up into a cast of 2. Epic. Agree with the 6 / 5 rating above.

Burn after Reading - great film, directed by the brilliant Coen brothers, starring Brad Pitt (hilarious in this) and George Clooney. Highly recommended, as is virtually every single film by the Coens.

I thought the Hobbit was supposed to be good? Empire seemed to think so. However I still remember them giving Phantom Menace 5 stars when it came out and then rewriting history by giving it 3 stars in a later review. How it managed 3 anyway is a mystery. The most solid 2 star movie I've seen.

I hate Empire, they're as culpable to over-rating the big budget films as anyone.

Hobbit isn't a bad film by any means, its just one of the most inconsequential Pt2's ever made. Stretching the Hobbit story into a 9hr trilogy means we get this sort of filler. And I maintain that any film where the best acting is by a special FX is seriously lacking in other departments (sadly running time isn't one of them).

Empire had an 'exclusive' interview with George Lucas days before the Phantom Menace review. Basically they sold out and gave that complete dog of a movie 5 stars to appease Lucas.

Saving Mister Banks - A surprising gem of a film this..Its about Walt Disneys attempt to seduce PL Travers the woman who wrote Mary Poppins into allowing it to be a musical against her stern spinster principles.....Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson are excellent.
