Last Film You Watched

Watched I Tonya last night after the football, thought it was hilarious, real black comedy. True story, a sport film but about a really messed up situation, almost more like a crime caper with messed up clueless red necks, lots of swearing and violence, it really wasnt what I expected.

Paul Walter Hauser is brilliant in it, I recognized him from Richard Jewell. At the end is a few clips of the real people, and the casting is spot on.

I'll be honest I was quite sceptical about this going in but think I'm going to have to give that a 9/10 - one of the best things Marvel have done. Because of the characters involved they couldn't hide behind flashy superpowers and they dialled down the Marvel humour a lot too. For a 12A I thought it was pretty dark and poignant in moments; great cast, a couple of dodgy Russian accents, some beautifully choreographed fights scenes & Florence Pugh was brilliant. Pacing was really decent too. There is an end credits scene but probs won't make much sense unless you've been following the Disney+ series.

Recommend.

Last night I watched The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, 1940s black and white with Humphrey Bogart, allltime classic film about two prospectors looking for gold in the mountains.
Western, but not like a cowboys and indians one, its a great story inc a few mexican bandits.
Anyone who hasnt watched too many films from the 40s but wants to check some out this would be a great place to start.

Major Grom Plague Doctor.

Russian with subs on Netflix.

Big money spent in this by Russian standards.

Borrows from lots of films - Fight Club, Batman, Die Hard to name but a few.

Flashy and stylish, remove brain and enjoy.

About 30 mins too long.

The Tomorrow War on Amazon Prime.

Big budget sci-fi. Just about watchable, but 30 - 40 minutes too long, and misplaced jokes and comedic characters that leaves the tone a bit mixed.
That's weird, Me and the wife were just trying to watch that. We managed 30-40 minutes in before we started cooking to UB40. Will have to check the ending out now.... With such a glowing review... Haha. (I couldn't find the emoj thingy).

Can’t stand constant jokey one liners in these sorts of films. I dunno who thinks it’s a good idea
