Oh I have no problem with that, I just don't like retro stuff just for the sake of it
 
Finished the matrix trilogy

It’s a bit of a weird one the storyline is all over the place I guess it was deemed a success because of its special fx at the time. I note they are making a 4th film due for release in December without Morpheus which is a bit odd. They are also bringing back Trinity which is even strange given what happened to her in the third film. Overall I was underwhelmed by it.

Never been able to watch this strangely… I start it but then quickly get bored

Two and three were a complete money grab.

As you say, story all over the shop, just more of the same FX.

MAYBE the upcoming movie kinda erases 2 + 3 and gives a more satisfactory closure.

The first holds up as one of the best action films I think. The 2nd and 3rd are awful messes where the writers were trying to be more clever than they actually are.
The whole concept was allegedly stolen I think and it shows as they end up out their depth when it gets complicated. The 4th instalment is guaranteed to be a total mess.

i was wondering why the oracle suddenly looked different in the third film and apparently this is the reason why

Gloria Foster, the actress playing the Oracle in the Matrix, died from complications of diabetes. Ultimately they had to write a script change to explain the switch between Gloria Foster and Mary Alice, who played the Oracle in all subsequent sequels.
 
The ice house. Fairly low budget and a small cast, but decent enough thriller and a good villainous performance from one of the actors. Was wondering what was going on in the first 10-15 mins, but all becomes clear soon enough.

2 was a mess, but that 3rd was was utter crap.

At least 2 had a banging soundtrack in comparison.



Best thing about the second movie is this tune over the chase scene!

I watched the trilogy again recently, I hadn't seen 2 & 3 since watching them in the cinema and my overriding feeling was they were a let down back then but I thought they were decent 6 out of 10 films this time around. The original is a fantastic film meaning anything was going to be a step down thereafter. I also think it helps that Hollywood has served up so much garbage recently that these seem better for it.

You may well be onto something there.

I haven't watched 2 or 3 since the cinema and they were so hyped there was no way they wouldn't disappoint.

I guess it's always hard to follow up such a mould breaking film.
