Woah, this was nuts. A cult horror film from the 90's which i hadn't heard of until now.

Its like Twin Peaks filmed at the Days of Heaven set. Mad but great once you get used to it.

Have you seen this @COYBL25

Never heard of it ?

Watched a very good film on Netflix last night titled 'Fear of rain'. It centres on this young teenage girl who life is blighted by the fact she suffers from acute Schizophrenia. It gives a really good insight of how this condition can affect individuals, & their families, for many years. Near the end there's a bit of a '6th sense' twist which fits in nicely with what's gone on before. However, what spoilt it slightly for me was the sub-plot that was running throughout the film that involved the creepy woman next door who just happened to be the girl's school teacher too. It made part of the ending seem very contrived & unnecessary. The real bad-guy in this movie was mental illness, but it seems the writer/producer was determined to put some heavy sugar coating on the film's finale just to appease an American audience who generally have a very tooth when it comes to this type of thing. If it wasn't for the final few minutes I'd give this an excellent rating. As it is, it's just 'very good'.

After seeing Prisoners recommended on here I watched that (it was pretty good but didn't love the conclusion), I ended up binging a couple of Gyllenhaal films.
Donnie Darko is one of those that I almost love but it needed more to the ending to make more sense of it.
Enemy is proper weird, Gyllenhaal plays two identical characters who are each others' doppleganger and they just behave very strangely and there's this bizarre recurring thing about tarantulas which is completely lost on me.

Thinking back to Nightcrawler, too, he loves to play weird characters, doesn't he?

Wrong Turn.

I really wasn’t expecting much, as quite often the reboots are dreadful, but this is a cracker.

Ignore the reviews, it’s excellent ( if you like this sort of film )

Starts off like ever other “ group of unlikable, privileged kids go hiking in the woods and bad stuff happens “ type film.

But once the bad stuff starts to happen, it really kicks into gear and develops into
a very effective psychological horror film. I’d say it’s better than the first..

Charlotte Vega, who I’d never heard of, is outstanding in the lead

A cross between Deliverance and the lesser known Ritual.

On Netflix

@jaycee

I liked it, very different from the original series (i actually liked the very first one). Preferred the first 45mins though, before it delved further into the 'antagonists' shall we say. Thought it got a bit silly towards the end though.

Sisters brothers is one id recommend if you haven’t seen it.

Coincidentally, I bought source code and Everest on blue Ray yesterday for the Jake pull.

Will try and watch this week.

Velvet Buzzsaw is another weird one of his.

Nightcrawler is a superb film. Have you seen Zodiac?

This has the potential to be the most tateless film of the year: Billy Elliott meets the Troubles.

Has @Armaghtoffee or others seen this or have a view on it?

Was reading about it earlier Dave, a story loosely based on Kenneth Branagh’s childhood in Belfast and his family moving away.

Going by the trailer, I don’t fancy it myself which is a shame as Ciaran Hynds is in it and I do like his work.

I seen it was a Branagh story and that Van Morrison scored it.

I'm out!
