Enter the Dragon (1973)

So I've seen this countless times over the last 30 odd years, but....
I'm really pleased with myself for only just noticing this, and I've sent it to loads of mates and they've found it funny, so here goes...

Just noticed that he has a Jimi Hendrix poster and a "black power" poster on the walls of his hotel room where he's staying on the bad guys island... so that means he took them with him when he travelled there and he hung them up himself ha ha ha ha ha.....genius touch that. Well either that or Mr Han (the main baddie) had a special suite prepared for his black guest when he arrived..... 70's non-PC racial stereotyping or what??
Would love to see the set designer's brief for this scene.... like "a brothers gotta take pictures of "Jimi" and "the movement" with him wherever he goes"....I buzz off how smooth he is with the broads as well pimp daddy him ha ha ha ha.... Fine-ass white girl was salty because he never "picked" her.....

Boss film, not just for the fighting action but the characters and, funky fashions and general cool mood.... a brilliant 70's time capsule

Watched a few over the weekend :

The Trip - Swedish with subs. Ultra black comedy, where a husband and wife drive out for a weekend in the country, to try to kill each other, where it gets very complicated.

Brutal, but good fun.

The Crew : French with subs. Set in Paris, a specialist team of armoured car robbers, end up getting blackmailed into doing a drugs rip off by gangsters.

Flashy, full on and a good cast. Enjoyable if you like films like this.

Same people made the tv series Ganglands, which is pretty much the same as this film.

The Forgotten Battle : A real mix of nationalities- British, Dutch, French and Belgium, so watch with subs.

Based on the true story of how the Dutch resistance rescued the Battle of Arnhem
for the Allies.

A cast of unknowns, who do a good job, great battle scenes, but compared to a lot of war films like this, it suffers as a result of it’s low budget.
Watched The Forgotten Battle last night. I thought it was excellent, you could see that in some bits the low budget did affect it but a good storyline and a gripping watch.

top 5 candidates for Oscars' best picture acc to goldderby;

1- The Power of the Dog
2- Belfast
3- Nightmare Ally
4- Dune
5- Licorice Pizza

Seen none of them so far, I'm more curious about Paul Thomas Anderson's latest gem tbh.

Watched Se7en for the first time in about 20 years. When you know what's coming it loses all impact.

What really stood out is how one dimensional an actor Brad Pitt was, maybe still is. His mannerisms, his delivery in all of those early films are just copy paste with a different script.

The detective in Se7en, the lunatic in Kalfornia and the loony in 12 Monekeys are essentially the same guy with the volume raised or lowered.

It works well for the 12 Monkeys guy, less so for the others.

His thoughtful devil in Meet Joe Black was very dull, and a painfully long film. Since the late 90s it's got a little better on the whole, but he's never someone that springs to mind as being a great actor.

Dune will sweep them for the screen play and the soundtrack.

Has Power of the Dog been released in the UK ?

It`s a fantastic book, as is the follow on, The Cartel.

I can’t count how many times I’ve watched this over the years , a proper old school classic .

just to take this on a complete ramble A good few years ago I was talking to some bloke I know casually and he dropped into the conversation that his brother in law was the bloke on the boat in the suit in the film . Got the part because he was a bit of a mate of Bruce Lee and was subsequently absolutely stinking rich over loads of other little schemes .

If it`s done right it`ll be fantastic, which should mean a film of three hours long - the book is 600 pages plus.
people who ve seen it at festivals etc don't sound so appreciative mate, judgding from the imdb reviews, but we shall see, sometimes they look like completely out of place.
