This going down the dark serious route for super heroes doesn’t work nowadays. Rather go for the Peacemaker comedy style, kick ass which I watched the other day was also funny..

It only "doesn't work" if you're an absolute Disney-fuelled Marvel head. I suppose you didn't like Watchmen or Joker either then?

A bit baffled by the very positive reviews this has received - To me it was an average reproduction of 70's exploitation horror (Some of it looks shot for shot like Texas Chainsaw Massacre)

Entertaining enough - but not scary at all and completely unoriginal

Watching Waterloo on TCM - brilliant cast 1971- Steiger as Napoleon, Plummer as Wellington. Around 50,000+ killed or wounded - the Somme was around 70,000 I think, including a relation of mine. I hate war but the production of this was superb for 1971.

Just Googled for background - irony of ironies, it was mostly filmed in the Ukraine. An estimated 20,000 horses died in the actual battle - I hope none were killed in the filming as it is pretty gruesome

Yeah but it was intentionally doing that, it wasn't like they had done it hoping nobody would notice, also plenty of Blaxploitation
Like a homage thing, Tarantino does it a lot too.

They forgot to write a story though unfortunately

Tarantino tends to take inspiration from past movies - rather than slavishly and pointlessly recreating them

Official Secrets with Kiera Knightley in the lead role - the story of the GCHQ employee who blew the whistle on the Iraq war - really good film.

On BBC 2 tonight at 10pm - well worth a watch

Watchmen was okay, Joker had no superheroes in it! Maybe that’s why Joker worked..

Only "superhero" in Batman was Batman so if you're not a fan of the superhero Batman why did you try watch a Batman movie? Many questions.

I must be one of the few who didn't like Joker, I found it boring and derivative.

Watchmen was great however, enjoyed it immensely.

The Batman was good, not great in my opinion.

Only "superhero" in Batman was Batman so if you're not a fan of the superhero Batman why did you try watch a Batman movie? Many questions.

Trilogy with Bale, was brilliant storytelling! Plus it wasn’t always moody.. does the new one have a patch on them?

Joker was saved by the 70’s aspect and Joaquin phoenix’s acting, but was basically a story about a lunatic, I wouldn’t watch it again, once is enough

Just getting a little bored with the remaking so soon after, how long before new superman film is made. It’s all gone a little stale, that’s why I like the new mickey taking approach at the moment
