never heard of that one...8mm is pretty dark for a Joel film.

another good dark Nic Cage film is Scorsese's Bringing Out The Dead.
Yeah , Brian de palma did that other one (snake eyes), they were released around the same time which is why I always get them mixed up.

I’ll have to put that Scorsese one on the list, never knew til now that cage and Scorsese did a picture together.

Did you ever see bad lieutenant? I swear nic cage really did crack during the making of that film ?

Another notable director...made some chaff recently, but Carrie, Scarface, Carlito's Way and Untouchables are all strong 8/10's.

yeah Scorsese's non-gangster stuff is interesting...tho' not always watchable. Kundun was a bore.

no, i trust your rating out of ten. If you score it 7 or more i'll stick it on the old watchlist

I really like 8mm myself. Great film. Always a blast watching Peter Stormare.
recently saw him in a small but memorable role in Minority Report.

feels like a Nolan film that...cold atmosphere & detached characterisation, with tidy state-of-the-art production and high-concept plot.

Just watched Sicario 2, brilliant, actually think its better then the first, Benicio del Toro and Brolin 2 great actors.
Hadn't seen this one before, fantastic film

Minority report is excellent !!remember watching it in school when I was 13, Colin Farrell played a bad guy so well, had no clue who he was and that he was Irish at that time ha!

Bad lieutenant (the one with nic cage) think it’s called port of New Orleans? is actually an enjoyable watch despite its absurdity ? I’d treat it as a black comedy, it’s hard to even know what it is ? but I’d give it 7/10 for enjoyment.

There’s another bad lieutenant with Harvey keitel which is EXCELLENT !!

Haha I realised I used excellent twice there and I sound like Wayne in Wayne’s world ?

We're All Going to the World's Fair

Was really looking forward to this, but unfortunately was massively disappointed. Feels like a short film stretched to breaking point and aside from one brief moment, wasn't as creep inducing as the hype suggests

Nah, the way he “ adopts “ the drug lords daughter ( brilliant performance by her ) just doesn’t fit in with his character ( imo )

They’re both magnificent films, but the first one edges it for me.

I’ve read that they’re doing another, which is very good news.

I must’ve watched the first one over a dozen times and I still find new stuff every time I watch it.

Enjoyed the first one a lot, I didn't really get the point of the second though. I think I just didn't like the fact they 'francised' it

Saw the new Dr Strange today and enjoyed it a lot. It's a very messy film and some bits are a bit cheesy but overall its great and its very different to other Marvel films. I'm surprised Disney were okay with it tbh because its a lot more gory than any other Marvel film I've seen (within the main universe.) Also has one of the best Marvel villains, up there with Thanos.
