Last Film You Watched

Another one for the new Candyman last night.

A bit frustrating, I feel like there's a good film in there, its just this isn't it. There's some good elements but ultimately I didn't think it added anything substantial and lacked the twisted charm of the original.

Mrs d is a big fan of the 90s one and rewatches it with some regularity, and I always enjoy it. Can't see myself ever revisiting this.

Have just watched in Dave.

Utter Bollocks. Almost a year on from our and natter and I said I would wait for it on Sky.

Utter bollocks.

I know it's on sky now but I cant bring myself to watch it. It looks like a whitewash of history and it's populated by a load of luvvies. I bet it leaves a bad taste in the mouth of anyone on the receivng end of State sanctioned terrorism.

Perpetuated the two tribes narrative and ignored the military occupation. British narrative since Gandhi.

I am about to leave and watch a Fathers Day (in NZ) double movie session on the big screen of

Top Gun
Top Gun: Maverick

OH YEAH!!!! I have never seen Top Gun on the big screen before, as I was only about 7 when it came out and it was a 15. Super excited!!!

Enjoy, let the baby oil flow...

Top Gun Maverick. Ticks all the boxes. Script written on the back of a dive bar sweaty beer coaster. Check. Hundreds of hours of footage of one man pushing his paychecks in ever more dangerous props to Mach 10.3. Check. Photocopied screenshots of the first film carefully stickytaped over the new film with told you so montages and harsh and unspoken issues playing under banging bangers. Check. A clever fusion of new characters replacing the older fatter ones, but leaving a little room for a stab at foreshadowing what could be a final characters final performance at the box office. Check.

I was expecting them all to be partying away with the win on USS Partyboat and suddenly the enemy like turn up and like get all shooty coz they totally just got invaded.

I actually thought the rest of the film, from when he first crashed was a hallucination because he’d never survive that. Thats what im going with and it was amazing. 4 out 5.

Next. Nope.

Top Gun: Maverick

I hate Top Gun complete and utter boring 80's cliche but fair play to Maverick, they actually had a plot and the stunts just stunning.

It mostly is just loads of plane shots and very little acting which makes it watchable.
