Last Film You Watched

Magnificent film, possibly my favourite of theirs. I’ve a lot of time for the coen brothers. Raising Arizona (Nicholas Cage being an actual actor), Blood simple, big Lebowski, Hudsucker proxy, Barton Fink, The man who wasn’t there (great Turn by Billy bob) Some excellent films
Miller’s Crossing is my favourite my a fair distance. Enjoy most their films but think that’s their masterpiece.

The Patriot (the Mel Gibson one)

Some utterly corny glory glory 'murica stuff in this one, like the film title warned of. Still decent, but damn it felt long. Jason Isaacs was decent as the main villain though, and good old Mel delivered the goods as well. 6/10

Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970)

Watched this for the first time in many years. I really liked it when I first saw it on TV as a kid. As a sequel it's not actually that bad. It's got some interesting ideas, some FAR OUT visuals and some weird moments... just like the '68 original. I particularly like the mutant irradiated psychic humans who worship a giant gold atomic bomb and have these horrible scars they hide behind rubber masks. The warlike Gorilla apes decide to invade "The forbidden zone" and clash with the telepathic mutants.

I's got that boss dystopian "end of times" feel that many sci fi movies of the 70's had. It's got possibly the most depressing ending of a major movie - a lot of films went for a downbeat tone around that time.

Very dated and not a great movie but certainly watchable. 7/10

Fear Street: 1978

Another good entry. Thought the main characters were better in this one than the first, while the side characters were a bit more annoying. I like how the plot unfolds, looking forward to see the third one tomorrow. Also, Sadie Sink is great. I'd say the second is slightly better than the first movie overall. 7/10

Zodiac (2007)

David Fincher's obsessive and intricate serial killer thriller, that is packed with detail, theories and a series of terrific performances from Downey Jr, Ruffulo and Gylenhall.

Visuals are just extraordinary and the film truly takes the viewer back to San Francisco, 1968 and jumps forward decades in the painfully slow and disturbing hunt for an elusive boogeyman murderer.

This was the best "HOLY SHEET" moment in a film I can remember for years...... in daylight with no music or dramatic camera movement.... absolutely chilling

Magnificent film, one of the best in its genre. Fincher at his best
