Seven Samurai
Rated as one of the greatest films of all time, and it did not disappoint. Absolute masterpiece, and a lot more light-hearted than I expected, which I think benefited the film. It's got incredible visuals (especially the night scenes), battles and characters. My first Kurosawa film, I'll have to get through the rest of the boxset eventually. 10/10

Edit: I see one of the top reviews on Letterboxd just say: "One of those where you finish it and kinda just sit there in disbelief that this is a movie that exists. Sheesh, what a monster". Sums it up quite perfectly.

'Yojimbo' next, then go and give the westerns a run.

And without that, we don’t get the original Magnificent Seven movie, one of the great western movies

Was bored yesterday so looked for a film to watch, found ‘Away days’ …. Still don’t really know what to make of it to be honest.

Good soundtrack, some decent scenes and brilliant Adidas webs. Football Factory is the flag bearer for those type of films. Brilliant film and encapsulates faux masculinity perfectly.

The book is much better.

Perfectly captures the 80`s football, clothes, drugs and music scene in Liverpool.

Agreed, very good book that. I'll get grief for this but there's another book called Boys From the Mersey by a red that's genuinely superb if you can get over the gloating bits. Mainly about young scallies (blues along as well) tearing around the country and Europe having a laugh. Not a hooligan book like them cockney divvies. It's a laugh out loud one for anyone from the city.

obviously it’s a Scouse film but was it set in Birkenhead ? Absolutely loved the sound track, clothes and trainers though 😂

Not sure where it`s set.

I think it`s just a " generic " inner city estate, set in Liverpool.

I always imagined it to be in Bootle or around there.

I`m not sure the area is even mentioned in the book tbh.
