Last Film You Watched

Having never watched a full Mission Impossible previsously, finally went to see Dead Reckoning Part the One last night. Aside from the usual Hollywood action film sillyness (antogonist loses track of hero during car chase, miraculously re-appears right on his tail 5 mins later etc etc), and a few misplaced imo silly/funny bits, it was really good. Hope they filmed back to back so we don't have to wait too long for the next one.
They didn't film them back to back but Part 2 is scheduled for release in June next year so not too long. That could change though I guess depending on how long the strikes go on for.

Just watched Dead Man's Shoes. Paddy Considine does that flick of a switch intensity thing very well doesn't he? His performance and the brother's story turn a slightly implausible revenge movie into something more than it's parts. Well worth a watch.

And Monkey Shines where a handsome young athlete does some naked yoga before an accident leaves him quadriplegic. Subsequently he mind-melds with an experimental serum addled helper monkey. Really rather good non-zombie George Romero psychological thriller with John Pankow and Stanley Tucci going toe to toe for the ultimate balding mans sleazy haircut award. Also a questionable animal welfare moment involving a mouse, inventive sex, urination and the worst nurse ever.
Dead man's shoes was the 1st film with Considine that I watched. I thought he was brilliant.
I watched 'a room for romeo brass' straight after.. .. again, he was brilliant

Got a few discounted Arrow releases (and some other stuff) this past week. Have any of you dapper yappers seen some of these arrow films (the top picture)?
I've got the 2 Disc Steelbook Robocop they released but am a bit peeved. At the time it came out I emailed asking if there was likely to be an actual 4k release given their release is a transfer of a 4k restoration and was told no, the bluray was gonna be the only release, so I bought that.
They subsequently released a 4k disc:rant:. I don't imagine it looks massively different as their BR really is excellent but I'd have preferred to hold onto my money and wait for the absolute best version available.

I've not seen the Arrow transfers but I've seen OldBoy which never really clicked with me. True Romance and I recall liking enough. To Live And Die In LA has been in my online basket a few times but never made it to checkout.

There's definitely some crossover with our tastes though looking at that selection. Have you seen the stuff 88Films releases - same kind of niche genre stuff with lot of the Italian 70s/80s Giallo kind of stuff and spaghetti sci-fi.

Damn, that's cynical by Arrow. I understand your frustration.

Not sure I have any releases by 88 Films, but I can at least see they've got a version of Puppet Master, in which I've got a massive collectors boxset of the entire series. I have watched three or four Giallo films the past year or two though (all Argento), and they've been hit or miss with me.

Looking forward to To Live and Die in LA, as I've been plowing through a few Friedkin films since he passed and liked all of them.

I'm not massively into torture stuff, but having watched a few older Japanese films lately, I wanted more, and I don't fear something from 1969 (Inferno of torture) being too bad. I made Japanese films somewhat of a priority in this order, while removing a ton of other stuff from my basket to cut costs.

Edit: Just realized I actually have a three film set called "The best of 80's scream queens" from 88 Films. Haven't opened the bluray yet, but I've seen Nightmare Sisters before and its great if you like sleaze lol

Pretty decent sci-fi horror.

Interesting thing about it is that almost no dialogue is spoken throughout the film.

What does that mean? You'll have to watch it to find out!

Said it once, will say it again: No Ash, No Party.

Hail to the king baby! Can't do it without the king.

The Day The Earth Stood Still.

The Keanu Reeves remake. Didn't actually seem like the turkey it was made out to be but the ending felt like they'd lost the script and just winged it on set.
‘Only at the precipice do we evolve .’

Is that a line from the movie? I don’t why remember that specific sentence, but I do…
