Last Film You Watched

Has some style, a lot more humour. Wick is so staid. This plays out like a comedy, almost every scene. I can't pick the watch yet, but I sense it's coming.

Watched "The Palace", the latest one from Roman Polanski. Just dreadful - as in, jaw-droppingly awful. Can't remember him ever making one this bad - what's worse, it was co-written by the people who made the superb "EO". Still kicking myself for not switching it off.

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford... mesmeric, one of my top ten movies of all time.
Casey Affleck though... Good actor, but is just me or does he always seems to be apathetic/indifferent in no matter what role he plays?

For instance: He's in a scene where he's in a building that's on fire, and everyone's running around, freaking out and shouting: WE'VE GOT TO GET OUT OF HERE OR WE'LL ALL DIE!!!' Pure pandemonium!

And Affleck will be sitting, slumped in a chair and he'll slowly pan his head across the room, sigh, shrug and be like: Yeah, I guess we should probably get out of here.

I'm a fan, for what it's worth, largely because the roles I best remember him in - Manchester by the Sea, Jesse James - his indifference suits the part, usually hinting at some unspoken trauma or longing.

Take your point though, he's no Nic Cage.
