film4 9pm tonight, premier. Supposed to be ok. (And no nic coppola, hurrah!)
Very very bad. Avoid. A shocker. Not a scare or a fright in it. Milana Vayntrub is a bouncy 30 seconds of guilty pleasure.

Someone pitched this, to someone that said 'yes and here's the money'. Codswallop.

Alien: Covenant - Enjoyable enough companion piece to Prometheus though I could have done without the dancing CGI baby alien. The whole "David" story over both films would work really well as a story if it wasn't shoehorned into the Alien franchise.

Funnily enough been reading a lot of stuff online this week about the original scripts etc. for this and Prometheus and it seems like the movies we got in the end should have been so much better without studio intervention.

Finally got round to watching the Sound of Metal.

What a film, with a truly moving ending and Riz Ahmed is simply outstanding.

Ahmed plays a thrash metal drummer and a recovering heroin addict, in a two piece metal band, who loses his hearing almost overnight.

The film follows him in his journey from fighting, to acceptance of his disability and his life being turned upside down.

It’s very slow and is all about the dialogue, but to me it was a genuinely stunning film and Ahmed is just so right for the part.

Wonderful.
