On the plane back to DC from LA, I saw a longish documentary (HBO films) on Tony Hawk. I loved it. Obviously, you have to *really* like pro-skateboarding as it played out through the 80s and 90s. It tracks Tony Hawks life from kid to now, and there are tons of great interviews and old footage. If you like skateboarding, this is for you...of you don't like skateboarding then I can't recommend it.

You can really see Bruce struggling with the onset of early dementia that has now completely consumed him and forced him into retirement.
It's heartbreaking to watch him in that state.
Plus Godzilla only shows up at the end, and you see him fighting with a fighter jet for like a minute. The CGI is horribly budget, at best!

Ghostbusters Frozen Empire - super fun film, love the little nods to the original and the villain was one of the scariest of the franchise thus far, only grip was it did drag just a touch, didn’t really need to be nearly 2 1/2 hours long but that’s modern movies for you

When is Part 3??

Good few years away at least. Villeneuve has stated he wants a bit of a break from making Dune films and also wants Chalamet to age a bit. Work has begun on the script but the film hasn’t been officially confirmed yet (although surely that is just a matter of time).

Weird. Feels like they kinda rushed through events in this part (a lot happens in the space of his mum being pregnant), now he wants to slow it down and wait for TC to look old? That's gonna be decades!

I haven’t read the books but I think the Chalamet thing is a bit of an excuse to postpone part 3 for a bit. Dune Messiah which it will be based on also sounds like more of a beast to make and he’s said he’ll only do it if he can do it properly. He’s also said he’ll only make it if he can properly tell the story and it sounds like quite a difficult story to tell if they stay faithful to the book.

Lots will have to be CGI and it will be very difficult to make it look realistic and in keeping with the aesthetic, especially as the first 2 films visually have been absolutely magnificent. Blade runner 2049 was also mesmerising so if anyone can make it this director can, I hope he does.
