Alien Romulus - actually pretty good, I thought.
Much better than the previous two modern ones and very true to the original. Love the use of the clunky 80s sci-fi tech, rather than holograms and ipads.
They still haven't quite solved the problem of making the Xenomorph scary again, but they came close. Perhaps I am desensitised to it from all of the monstrosities I've been exposed to in video games.

Following recommendation on here, watched these two over the weekend:

Oddity :

I really wish I hadn’t watched this before I went to bed, as it’s sublimely dark and creepy.

Low budget, with an all Irish cast, a blind antiques dealer, uses haunted objects to seek revenge for the murder of her twin sister.

Sounds daft, but it’s anything but.

Atmospheric, with a real sense of dread running all the way through it and the cast are pretty much perfect.

Lake Mungo :

Low budget, psychological Aussie horror.

Good, but not as good as Oddity.

Filmed like it’s a a documentary. A grieving family seeks answers to seemingly supernatural events, following the drowning of their daughter.

Lost a bit of impetus mid way through, when the film twists in another direction, but still worth watching.

I read the synopsis for Oddity and thought it was a daft, comedy ish movie, but it plays it’s hand completely straight, and I really enjoyed it.
